Yeah, Daniel Way is writing it. He's a pretty twisted mofo; I think he might be a good fit for the character.

Well, I'll check out Green Arrow. That fight between Deathstroke and Ollie (if that was Ollie and not Connor) was pretty sweet.
This comment is in no way meant to insist your opinion is wrong or be considered an edict, solely this poster's opinion. That said, you are still a fool and will kneel before me in supplication.

Agreed. I have actually enjoyed the OYL Green Arrow run. It isn't without its flaws...but for the most part it has been entertaining.

Oh, wow, Ghost Rider drops today? I was thinkin' that was still a couple of months out. I'll do the sneaky-peek inside the store to see if it's worth the money...

Gonna need Ultimate FF (I do the trades on Ultimate Spidey), CW:FL, probably Thunderbirds and maybe Sensational SM for the crossovers, 52, DMZ, and last week's Secret Six if they got any more in. Plus the requisite impulse buys if any indy stuff or TPBs jump out at me.

Yeah GHOST RIDER totally snuck up on me too.

The initial advanced reviews that I have read were fairly positive. I have a feeling that I will be picking up this book for the visuals if nothing else. The art looks fun.

I finished most of my comics for the week so I figured I might as well post some reviews:

The Escapist #1 - Perfect. Only word to describe this book. Such an amazing tale...makes me feel extremely guilty for never having read Kavalier and Clay. K. Vaughan can flat out write. (Not to mention its only a dollar!)

The Eternals #2 - I am loving this series. The art is gorgeous...and Neil Gaiman is crafting a huge epic story that doesn't forget about the intimate stuff.

JLA #0 - I am really looking forward to this new run on JLA. From the interviews I have read...Metzler knows his stuff. This issue is very hard to understand at first because it jumps back and forth...but once you grasp the concept it is a really fun read. Plus, lots of great art...including Eric White (ghost artist for Seth on The OC.)

Runaways #18 - Best book available at the moment. Hands down. If you aren't reading Runaways...start.

Ultimate X-Men #72 - I had high hopes for Kirkman's run on this book...but thus far its been kind of a let down. Lets hope he find his groove soon.

Civil War #3 - Oh. Snap. Enough said.

The Buffy comic will be about 20 issues long...told in a bunch of mini-series...Joss is writing the first 4 issues and has recruited some of the veteran writers from the show to do the bulk of the writing.

The first issues should be hitting the stands in October via Dark Horse.

Not a problem.

I just hope that they can get the book out on time. I am afraid that any prolonged delays between issues could really hinder the experience.

Geez, that's almost two months. Maybe he can't write two monthlies at a time. Understandable.

I just read that Joss Whedon's run on Astounding X-Men ends with #24!

I've just read the Whedon Astonishing X-Men - "Gifted" and "Dangerous". Does what you are saying Dennis, mean his run is continuous for the first 24 issues?

Cool - look forward to 12-24 coming out in hardback then...

OK - so I'm playing massive catch-up with the X-peeps. Any recommendations Dennis - I've read Age of Apocalypse (Books One to Three) and Astonishing - Whedon - 1-12.

What next do you think? Some of my fave X-men are Iceman, Beast, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Rogue.

What was this Legacy virus? Realise I'm going back on myself chronology wise - but was it a good tale?

Sooooo.... is it really not coming out until Aug 16th then???

Jeez... It seems like so long ago that I read WW #1... And Heinberg did a mighty fine job of leaving the story hanging...

Guess thats the idea... ughhh.....

Did you read Young Avengers? It'll take Heinberg a good two years to write his 6 issue WW arc.

Has anyone here read Wolverine: Origins #5???

SPOILERS!!!!

Logan...a father??? Ok, this is the second hero this year who has found out about a long lost son (Wolverine, Superman)...but WHY did they need to make the kid have the same Logan haircut? Since when did hair cuts become genetic? That pissed me off to no end.

Is this the same one with the Bone Claws? That is what pissed me off to no end.

Escapists #2: Big yes!

Fables #52: Lead is okay, drawing together characters from throughout the last two years. Backup is trifles light as air, but fun look at the life of Rapunzel in Fabletown.

Buckaroo Banzai #2: Lacks the raw fun of #1 -- the thrill of seeing these characters again. Reads like something Rauch really wanted to do on film but couldn't afford. The dreaded "meh."

52 #14. A quarter of the year is gone and these plots aren't pulling me in. Some would work as miniseries of their own, such as the Ralph Dibny story. Others might be interesting as backups, but they don't hold the interest from week to weekl. I like Montoya and Sage, but the overseas investigation is out of character for him -- as is him asking people to call him "Charlie." Only Tot calls him Charlie.

Superman #655. At this rate I won't be buying the Busiek/Pacheco stories much longer. Pretty flat material redeemed only by the continuing examination of Clark's sensory/cognitive upgrade (which brings him much closer to the Silver Age Superman).

Dennis...I read somewhere that 52 really picks up its momentum at issue #18...I am going to give it until then to see whether or not to continue reading this. My biggest problem is that its the only place I can get my Question fix! They really need to give him an on-going series!

Agreed about Escapists #2. That book is absolutely blowing me away. Thanks for the reviews Dennis! I hope this trend catches on...I'd love to read peoples thoughts on the new books from week to week.

Got it, read it, loved it. Now I have to wait till the end of the month for my next subscription package. Going comic shopping on Sunday, will have to be strong and resist buying issue 2!

I think I've got ONE hold book this week and it's 52. Need light weeks to make up for the heavy ones, I guess

Yeah I think I might give it a shot...being a musician it has me intrigued. I will write my thoughts on it once I have read it for all those that are interested.

I'm always interested.

I haven't had the funds to pick up my comics so |I rely on others to know what goes on in the comic world.
