You're quite welcome. I can't tell you how pumped I am for the new Booster Gold series. I hope it lives up to my expectations. And JLA #12 will mark the end of Brad Meltzer's run. It was a series of ups and downs, but I think ultimately Meltzer's first six issues were just outstanding. I wish he had nixed that damn crossover and just stuck to his own stories.

Just quoting myself to deliver a warning - DO NOT READ X ISLE, it is not good in a sci-fi popcorner way.

EDIT - Crossing Midnight and the X23 trade for me this week.

Before I post any reviews can I am pleased as punch to say that I picked up Mouse Guard: Winter 1152! I don't know when I missed it (it came out sometime in the last 2 or 3 weeks), but I just happened to come across it at the shop and I am so glad I did. I loved Mouse Guard 1152 and this sequel is shaping up to be just as epic.

No kidding. I browsed through Amazing because the cover lead me to believe something might actually happen, but not so much. I didn't even buy it and I still felt ripped off. :x

Metal Men #2

I don'y buy much these days, which works financially as my living expenses are up about 30 percent. Even so, I think I'll add Thor and Booster Gold. Metal Men is getting a very skeptical tryout.

'krunk, no comics until tomorrow because of Labor Day. Unless your place gets UPS early somehow they shouldn't have any books to shelve or pull.

reel in anger...check.

I will check on them later tonight, and see if there's been progress.

Reposted from the Star Trek Comics thread:

Leckomaniac wrote:Read the first issue...it was pretty cool, but it was just way too short. The comic book medium isn't really suited to telling stand-alone Trek stories. At 22 pages, they are just way too short to leave the reader satisfied. I would suggest 2-3 issues arcs...with each break between issues serving like a commercial break almost. And PLEASE include some cool Trek back-up stories. Kind of like the old Green Lantern back-ups.

Just my two cents.

Anyone else read the first issue of Spiderman: One More Day?

I have a hard time getting into it because I doubt they're going to kill off May.

I read it, bulbittl. I thought it was grand (surprisingly because JMS is kind of overrated to me), but I really hated Quesadas art. As far as the story goes, I think with this and Back in Black they have suspended my disbelief enough that I think they could kill off Aunt May or do something entirely insane in order to protect those Peter loves. And I must admit, even though very little was made of May and Jarvis' relationship in ASM, I still actually shed a tear when that butler showed up at the hospital. But as you well know, I am a sucker for studly manservants.

I really liked Spiderman totally pwning Iron Man, and I really really liked Iron Man's reaction to the whole thing.

Also, no one really talked about Back in Black, but I think that Peter's confrontation of Kingpin at the prison had one of the best moments of Spider-man I have EVER read. When he pulled off his mask, I was astonished and really got caught up in it. Brilliant moment for me.

Here we go. I will be, essentially, comic book-less for the 3 months I will be in europe. I will do my best to pick up what i can here and there, but since i am still keeping my pull list here in the states I will be holding off from purchasing a lot of titles until I get back. I would be the happiest boy in the world if my order for back issues of Silver Surfer: Requiem and Hellboy: Darkness Calls would arrive.

Fucking hell, I am missing Requiem #2 and HB #1-3...and I really want to read these books and won't until I have the series in hand.

Come on comics shop, have my back issues ready for me...please.

@Lacko - re: Silver Surfer - I know! <wail>

The first issue grabbed me by the throat, and then I somehow missed #2 - I have all the others, and can only read the first; it's truly killing me. I am not a patient man, for good or ill, and this is just too much.

The AGONY!

Issue #2 is stunning. It is an excellent companion to the first. The third issue sees a slight (and I stress slight) drop in quality, but no worries because #4 is up to the stellar standards set by the first two issues. I said it before in the review thread, but this mini will go down as an instant classic. THE best Surfer story I have ever read.

burlivesleftnut wrote:I read it, bulbittl.

I agree. Especially about Quesada's art.

cheers for posting those the last couple weeks burl, in lieu of lecko "discovering" himself in Europe (lucky bastard).

looks like it's only RUNAWAYS for me this week, but if anyone can find out when SCOTT PILGRIM VOL IV is released, I'd be grateful.
