There's a lot of disagreement over when this battle takes place, so:

3600 Green Lanterns, an undisclosed number of Manhunter robots not willing to be squished, the Guardians themselves, the Zamarons and several planets of potential ubermenschen and uberfrauen just waiting to be boom-tubed to a yellow star.

Also, Darkseid kicks Thanos's butt without even flinching an eyecrag.

And if I remember correctly, the JLA fought heaven once. And won. I think that counts for something.

The JSA circa 1986 held off Ragnarok for ten years by taking the place of the Norse Gods. So much for Thor, et alia.

The problem with the fight is that it is too broad and chaotic.

Take 5 of the best from DC and pit them against 5 of the best from Marvel. That's the only way your going to get anywhere.

5 on 5 Battle Royal is an option.

Or do what they did in the DC vs. Marvel comic:

One on One battles with the cumulative victor winning the whole thing.

For example (These choices are random picks from the top of my head):

DC's Champions

    Superman
    Batman
    Green Lantern-Hal Jordan
    Captain Marvel
    Wonder Woman

Marvel's Champions

    Spiderman
    The Hulk
    Silver Surfer
    Magneto
    Wolverine

Match them up:

Superman vs. Silver Surfer

Captain Marvel vs. The Hulk

Spiderman vs. Batman

Wonder Woman vs. Magneto

Wolverine vs. Green Lantern

Best 3 out of 5 wins.

Discuss.

Dennis, well done in listing off all those bad ass random DC dudes, but with Marvel you have your Shi'ars, your Krees, your Scrulls, your EGO, your Inhumans... on top of that you have all kinds of fun stuff like rubies that give people unlimited power, the cosmic cube, the phoenix force...

I have to admit that the Lantern Corps would be an asset, but can't a well planned attack disable all of their power at the source?

Cable and Juggernaut? Really? What have those two characters done that sets them above every other character in the Marvel universe? Just sticking with X-Men characters, there's Proteus, Apocolypse, Phoenix and Wolverine, all of which I think have proven to be more powerful than those two. Not to rag on you, just that those choices seem a bit...silly.

Also, since we're choosing champions. With Xavier and Magneto looking like blanket choices for Marvel, does Onslaught fit into this at all? I didn't really read that particular mega-event, but isn't Onslaught supposed to be Xavier and Magneto combined or something like that? I think he'd be stronger that way then the two separated. But I could be totally wrong on this one.

Final thing. If we're pitting these 5 on 5 against each other, we should group them better. Wolverine vs. GL is way off kilter. Like this.

Green Lantern vs Silver Surfer (cosmic defender vs cosmic herald)
Wonder Woman vs Wolverine (savage amazon vs savage animal guy)
Batman vs Spiderman ("urban" heroes...I guess)
Superman vs Magneto (they both can...fly?)
Captain Marvel vs Hulk (b/c I have no idea how they fit into this list)

I chose Juggernaut because his power is he's unstobable it doesnt matter what happens hes going to come back. Pheonix is a god so I didnt want to do her, ok not a god but a primal force beyond imagining. Cable was supposed to be the killer of Apocolypse and now that his techno virus is cured he can do most anything. I don't know much about Silver Surfer thats why he wasnt on my list.

Dude, seriously, there's this one issue where Batman just puts on armor and beats the shit out of Galactus.

So it's gotta be DC.

Actually, here's why I voted DC: The Spectre -- read, THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD HIMSELF -- descended from on high and CAME IN THE FACE of the goddamn Marvel Universe. Then the Anti-Monitor swiped the Marvel Universe's purse, gave 'er a bootprint in the pussy lips, and sent 'er out of existence.

Er, I was just trying to be funny in the first sentence...I guess if I have to explain it, it wasn't that funny...

I thought the part about the Marvel Universe's pussy lips was pretty self-explanatory, though...if used within the context of a "Marvel Universe-as-mistreated hooker" metaphor.

It would be AWESOME if he told the superheroines of Marvel to all go and fuck themselves...and then Batman would get Brother Eye to record it all. That's why Batman's the best.

Marvel takes this IMO.

Phoenix
Galactus
Molecule Man
Thanos
Prof X.
Hulk

And that's only a few.....

(I could easily trump any argument that a D.C. follower might come up with by just throwing the Beyonder into that list, but I wont even go there yet. LOL  )

And don't forget that Marvel has the Celestials.

Wasn't there a time when the Destroyer armor (which could go toe-to-toe with Thor, and scare the bejeezus out of the Thunder God) was animated by the spirits of ALL of the Asgardian gods except Thor, grew to 2000 feet tall, and, wielding the Odinsword, no less, couldn't even put a dent in the Celestials? Them Celestials are serious business!

Its a tie again, thanks to my Marvel vote.
Spiderman would totally kick Batman's ass.
Hell, Captain America would have kicked Batman's ass.
Even Dick Cheney would shoot Bats in the grille, just for jollies.....
Not sure who I'd stack up against Supes though - he's the tough nut.
Maybe if Wolverine dipped his claws in Kryptonite.....

It's a lead for Marvel, now that I've cast my vote.
Maybe Thor vs. Superman. Or a REALLY mad Hulk.

It would be cool if Gamma Radiation = Krypto Radiation. Like they just had different names in different universes. Then Superman would be all allergic to the Hulk, and the Hulk could pummel him.

But I think the Hulk would win anyway. I mean, I think the Hulk > Doomsday, and we all know how well Superman did against Doomsday.

And I think Kitty Pryde could take out Batman.

Hulk vs Superman would be crazy - sheer power against finese.
I suppose Supes could just fly Hulk up into space, damn those lungs anyway.
Ironman VS Batman wouldn't be fair either, although Ironman VS Green Lantern could have some entertainment value to it.

This is why I actually lean toward Thor vs. Superman. Thor is damn powerful - I think at least a match for Supes. And Supes can't just fly him into space - Thor would come right back, Mjolnir straight down Supes' throat, in a big hurry!

DC has the lead now after I cast my vote.

The Green Lantern's, Superman, Batman, Birds of Prey, hell the JLA and the JSA...the New Gods, Captain F'n Marvel, Black Adam, The Metal Men, Teen Titans, Firestorm, Green Arrow, The Spectre, Dr. Fate, Shadowpact...etc

I think DC takes the cake.

But everyone one you mention has a potentially equal counterpart in the Marvel Universe. It's not really fair to take one side of the debate just because you don't even like Marvel right now.

Hawkman VS Angel
Dr Fate VS Dr Strange

That makes sense too since SUpes is suceptible to magic.

Hulk v Doomsday is more a logical matchup powers wise.

Superman defeats Hulk (fan voted)

Thor defeats Captain Marvel

Robin III defeats Jubilee

Wolverine defeats Lobo (fan voted)

Storm defeats Wonder Woman (fan voted)

Aquaman defeats Namor the Sub-Mariner

Well Storm does control the weather so I suppose she could freeze her to death....depending on how long that would take...I'm no Storm fan so are her weather powers like instant?

Well since everyone is throwing out match-ups, My personal favorite would be Batman v. Wolverine. I think it would be interesting to see him fight Nightcrawler as well, since trapping him proves so difficult. Gotta think Wolverine would win.

Also, Vicar's Hawkman VS Angel would be quite a fight to watch eh? Just picture that one!

Wolverine would win against Batman, hands down. In the end, Batman's just a guy in a Kevlar suit with a lot of nifty tools. Wolverine is practically made of Kevlar.

It would be a vicious fight though, no doubt. Wolverine would be hurting by the end.

I hate to disagree with a lady, but all Bats needs to beat the hairball is a big electromagnet. Batman's smarter than Wolvie, period, and I would lay down money Wolvie'd say something stupid like "You can't break adamantium, bub!"
