That link tells you about a tourettes charity comic signing. I think you probably want to go here instead.

Linkage

Appears to be related to the Indian comics industry.

I'd like to know what sort of books they're gonna come out with before I predict them to be dead in the water.

Good one, Colin. My guess is that John Woo thing could be a comic based on the video game he's got coming out...

So does this mean we'll have the Richard Branson vs. Tony Stark comic battle we've all been hoping and praying for?

Reaks of more boyish capitalism to me, what's Branson got to do with comics? I remember the days when multi-millionaire entrepeneurs were Texan rednecks and wore off-kilter Cary Grant wigs.

Anyway, I'm genuinely interested in this Tourettes Charity Comic Signing, what was the link?

Okay, this is a guy who is using his money to do all the childish stuff we always said we'd do if we ever got rich. So we've seen him build a fleet of space ships, and now we're seeing him pump his money into comics, putting his name and weight behind them.

I know there's nothing altruistic about this man of excess, but right now, he rules in my book...

And does anyone think that naming something 'Virgin Comics' is a bit redundant isn't it? Like calling something 'photonic light'....

Yeah it's pretty cool. I thought after the Crossgen failure, no millionarie would dip his feet into comics again. I just hope he lets creators run with the ball instead of making them work on some lame, pre-concieved "universe."

Also, if a bunch of hacks are drawing/writing his comics then he could kiss his money goodbye..

buster, you got the same idea as me...the actual article was kinda underwhelming. In fact the description of it is probably much more entertaining than the read itself... Tourette's Charity Comic Signing. It's just got a ring to it. Anyway, click on the URL by Neo Zeed above and it's yours.

Ah, didn't see it, kurosawa...thanks much...

But it looks like we missed the event by JUST INCHES, eh? Too bad -- "cun+ fuck shit" spouting moppets notwithstanding, there were a lot of cool people at that thing, by the looks of the flyer.

I was up late the other day watching Niagra, Niagra on TV with Robin Tunney (the one where she has Tourettes) She was hot. Especially when she was humping that dude to ease her Tourette symptoms!!!

HOT!

I'm rooting for them as well. The sooner comics are treated like a real business the better. It this goes well.it won't only be creators from the big two making a living at this business....

And that is always a good thing!

Checked your site Kody! Great artwork..man there's a lot of talent on this board..

I wonder what how Virgin will appraoch finding talent? Will they go for big names? With the right property, creator owned deal, and big checks, they could snake away some big names. However, I'd like to see some newcomers get a chance. The comic industry is waaaay too incestuous with the talent nowadays.

After the failure of companies like Crossgen and Dreamwave, what can Virgin do in order to prevent the same fate? Any ideas?

It seems that they're open to new talent via their Maverick line, so.... good luck!

I went to both the megastores in Hollywood and nobody in either place had even heard of "Virgin-Comics"...putzes. Anyway, I finally found "Devi" #1 at a comic shop in San Diego....uhh...the artwork is really cool...and that "Ramayan Reborn" looks amazing too. But the stories seem a bit weak thus far... "Snakewoman" was kinda boring imo. Of course they are just starting out I guess. I also hope they deal with some other mythologies/ideas in the future other than just Indian (as vast as it might be, it still seems like it would get old after awhile) Well, the books ARE very nice-looking, but like I said, they're hard to find, deal strickly with Indian-myth/lore, and the words don't quite match the art....all at this point anyway.
