Actually, this leaked on Newsarama's message boards a little over a week ago. But still, an impressive task nonetheless.

Also, did anyone just see the Colbert Report? Captain America was the subject of tonights "WORD". It was pretty funny.

This is the Worst Picture Ever Drawn. And Cap knows it - that's why he's looking at the artist with THAT expression.

It's hideous. I'm so glad that the wonderful and wise folks at Marvel would never in a million years consider ANYTHING like that. So we don't have to worry at all - everything will be ALL RIGHT in the Marvel Universe. We can be absolutely confident of that.

I love it when people debate the important issues of the world.

Meanwhile, the only cool thing I got from that was this picture, now my wallpaper:

Undeniable evidence of the existance of a real Captain America? A government cover-up?

The best part of that story is this quote:

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is more misdirection ala that pic we were shown that had Iron Man decked out in red-white-and-blue?

Where is this Red-White-Blue Iron Man? I never saw it.

The more I look at this picture, the more I wonder...Why would the Punisher put this much effort into his costume? Why would he arrange his bullets so they look like teeth? And why would he wear a mask when the giant, white skull on his chest basically translates to "Frank Castle is here to kill you!"

Just seems a bit much for a character who's motivations are so one-track, he murdered 2 villains in front of Captain America and didn't understand what he did wrong.

That being said, I really like the idea of the Punisher taking on Capt's mantle. But it should be the real Captain America mantel, not this..."thing." The Punisher has been 1-note for a looooong time. Having the character attempt redemption by walking in a greater man's shoes...that could be cool...as long as it doesn't become Batman/Azreal.

Of course, what would be more interesting is this: The Punisher says "fuck you" to redemption and begins hunting down the Government sanctioned villains (The Thunderbolts, I guess). He's so efficiant and ruthless that the US Government/SHIELD can't help but be impressed. They drop the registered villains, bring in Frank, and crown him the new, sanctioned Captain America for the modern day USA. With a government pardon and license to kill, Frank becomes a one-man American Army...destroying all in his path.

A government-sanctioned Punisher, openly killing villains in the guise of Captain America? Now that's a fucking scary, cool concept.

HERE is a small version of it.

It's just a re-colored version of Silvestri's cover for Civil War: The Initiative that was "leaked" as disinformation about the end of Civil War.

That's what made me suspicious, is that it's the same story with this cover. It's just an altered version of the Punisher: War Journal #7 cover.

So I'm in kind of a 'fool me once...' mentality with this stuff now. Smells like more disinformation to me...

I would die if they did that. Sadly, they won't do it. They'd give Colbert a series as Captain America before that.

I read Civil War: The Confession last night, and it's actually a really nice, really fitting epilogue to the craziness of Civil War. Honestly, hearing Tony spell out his case for why he went to war was the most honest, most effective explanation we've seen thus far... and it felt like the thing Civil War proper needed to make you understand his rationale.

It's just a lot of talking, sure, but it works very well.

I have heard that from just about everyone who has read it. It is a real shame they couldn't find a way to fit it into Civil War proper.

I just read The Confession. The King Arthur stuff was lame if you ask me, but the overall message worked really well. I think they could have very easily got the point across without the King Arthur thing and it would have made a world of difference.

If you remove that stuff, the Iron Man portion of this issue is beautiful. It He still acted like a grade A dick during Civil War, but this makes the pill slightly easier to swallow.

The Cap part of the issue bugged me. Just a few pages before he made Iron Man a well written fleshed out character...then he turns around and makes Iron Man go "Uh, Yeah" and "You're a SORE loser Captain America"...UGH!

Damn you Bendis. Damn you.

It's still a kewl picture, though.

My guess is that there's a hitherto-unseen property of super-soldier serum that enables him to survive. It'll restart his heart or something. Prevent brain damage in the absence of oxygen for a very long time. The doctors will be able to bring him back, and he'll be BETTER THAN EVER!

Or a zombie. Super-soldier zombie.
