I always thought the A was so dumb. You have a guy with a pretty cool costume. It's red, white and blue and has a big star. He also has a red, whit and blue with another big star. Do we really need an A to signify that he's captain america? I think the A stands for Asshole.

Give Joe and Jack a break, man. It was 1940. Cap's costume, including the "A" was genius compared to some of the patriotic types. I've been looking at it for 35 years and it never bothered me.

True, but think of how handy they could be.

Bored while juggling? Simply rest a book on your massive man-maries, and now you can entertain birthday parties and yourself at the same time!

Hungry, but too worn out from a long day of juggling to lift your arms? Have your boy-sidekick place a sandwich and a bowl of soup on your prodigious chesticles.

Also serves as a handy-dandy shelf for displaying Hummel figurines.

Adam Balm wrote:Odd, those I've talked to have the nicest things to say about Liefeld..

Perhaps he's grown a modicumof humility since he's watched three companies slide out from under him. Or maybe he's just a nice guy to have as a buddy but remains a dick as a comics professional.

He certainly hasn't learned to draw any better.

Penny Arcade is a webcomic dedicated mostly to games but sometimes involving other geek activities. During cons they tend to just do sketch comics rather than full-color, polished versions. When they do signings/sketchings, their table tends to have a long line.

LIEFELD ON LIEFELD

"If I wanted to draw like the legion of photo-tracers/screen saver artists out there, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I can draw a portrait with the best of them, but if I want my comics realistic, I'll go see the film." - In an interview at Wizard World Chicago 2004.

I don't know why, but the phrase "Nigga stole my bike" immediately popped into my head when I read this.

For spidey it was the venom thing when they went back to red and blue from black.

In D.C. it was zero hour, I quit D.C. for years.

and now it's House of M and this retro new Crisis thing.

You know what I'm tired of? Marvel's (basically) yearly X-Men relaunch. Why must each new creative team bring "A BOLD NEW TWIST!!!!" What's wrong with picking a direction and letting a few different people run with it for awhile? Whedon's stuff was pretty good and it wasn't tied to a franchise-shaking whatnot. Is he still on the book or has he been shuffled loose the coil for this House of M/Decimation schtick?

Oh, and stop letting Chris Claremont write X-Men comics. He reminds me of Grampa in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They love him and he was a pretty good psycho/cannibal in his day. So they give him a hammer, let him try to kill the girl. But they know it's pointless. He's basically catatonic and all he's good for anymore is shitting himself.

Yeah, that's a pretty accurate description, I'd say.

I quit picking up Superman/Batman when the "evil Legion" or whatever came back from the future and started mucking things up...

Just so I'm clear, is that supposed to be a kids' book now? Cuz it sure as hell reads like one.
