Chris Claremont suffers heart trouble...

Postby Adam Balm on Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:22 am

Chris Claremont seems to have collapsed in Italy about a month ago from cardiac stress, though we're just hearing about it now. It was announced today that he will be taking a break from comics to recover. His Marvel stuff is being pushed back.

I don't think so. My e-meter points to a negative, but that might just be interference we're getting from Theta...

You should pick it up.. Excellent book and a fun as hell read. Its like Sliders (they even make mention to the concept in the book its self) but with heros from diffrent reailties, and the team is constantly shifting....

Hey, eat me, ointment boy! :D

Is Claremont really a Scientologist? That'd just be fucking depressing...
This comment is in no way meant to insist your opinion is wrong or be considered an edict, solely this poster's opinion. That said, you are still a fool and will kneel before me in supplication.

No, he's not a Scientologist. The one book he was doing that I was looking forward to was Women of the X-Men, for the Manara art. I can wait.

I've been no fan of Claremont for a long, long time (10 years or more, since his first burnout on the X-books because obvious). Still, I wish him well and would not see him want for work beause of this. Too many creators have wound up penniless because of bad health, Bill Messner-Loebs for example. I hope Claremont's got good insurance and decent savings to carry him through this hiatus, even if it is "brief".

I feel like a heel. I was worried about him taking over Exiles and i was actually glad to hear about his illness. As some famous line once said... "I don't something bad to happen to him, just something to keep him out of work for the next 20 years"

DUDE!

I hope he's recovering well and had (has also) enough saved up to cover the hospital bills.

This guy wrote The Dark Phoenix Saga... and Days of Future Past... two comic collections so good that I will follow this guy anywhere, and still give him the benefit of the doubt.

He even made the WENDIGO awesome for Pete's sake!
