Weird Comic Noises

Postby papalazeru on Tue Apr 18, 2006 1:29 pm

I always found it funny how you got different noises in so many different comics...especially in foreign countries.

Some of them even sound better than the tradish English noises.

Heres an example,

When someone slaps you round the side of the face, in English its usually something like...Pow!

In Spanish the same noise is....Plaf!

Works quite well for me.

Im just wondering if any of you have come across some really funny ones as well......Like the entire of the original Batman series, always makes me giggle.

Gnark gnark is usually used in French for chuckling... I like it better than hyuk hyuk.

What was the noise Gwen Stacy's neck made when Spider-Man broke it?

Before it was edited out, of course.

I've heard loads of 'Weird' noises when I open a comic book, especially when I turn the page, I think's got something to do with the friction and energy produced by the force of my skin against the paper, and the joules of the combined and reslutant energy of these 2 forces.

But to say I've heard and 'Werid' noises... sheet I must have missed out on some kind of class at school, but anyway, I'm well jealous and pissed off that my life is less than all you lot for not knowing what 'Werid' is.

Gwen Stacy's neck made snap.

And the strangest noise I've ever read was in german versions of old Lucky Luke books. Whenever he gave somebody an uppercut the sound was klops.

Klops? Sounds like he had a lazy mule's shoe in his glove.

Any noises people desperately WANT to see in comic books?

I thought it was a little amusing how the onomatopoeia for Wolverine's claws popping out went from SNIKT! to SHLUKT! when he had his adamantium ripped out.

it's better than the noises that Kirk "hears" when opening the pages of his national geographic magazine... more of a weird "pages stuck together and tearing sort of noise..."

Dogs in french comics go 'Wooer wooer!' apparently. I remember DROG! from a punch in 200AD,

but the best must be 'BWAK!' as someone vomits due to a rather heavy blow to the stomch.

After a little search I found this noise in a Gaston comic, produced by a whistle which is supposed to attract some sort of animal.

I love "PAF!" in Asterix and of course the classic Adam West "SOCKO!"

Oh apparently in Korea dogs go "mung mung" instead of "Woof woof". If you like dogs, don't eat "mung mung tang" (Woof woof stew).

I once had intructions for a BB gun in japanese, so they provided wide-eyed cartoons showing how not to shoot your friends in the face...

the onomatopoeia's that decribed impacts were

kon, pan, and bishi

I used to have a roommate who had this weird affectation, which was that he'd go around making that hurmmm noise. He sounded like a human vacuum cleaner. I never knew quite how to convert it into the English alphabet until I read Watchmen. Oy, I'm glad Rorschach didn't have any roommates- he'd have driven them spare within a week.
