I'm a recent Scott Pilgrim convert.

I was in my local comic shop buying my monthlies, didn't have cash on me and wasn't buying enough to hit the debit card minimum... when I spied Precious Little Life near the counter. I picked it up, let it sit collecting dust for nearly a month, then one day I decided to try it out. An hour later, I was in love.

My comic shop is sold out of Vol. 2 and I've searched others to no avail. One day very soon, the adventure will continue...

Best. Comic. Evar.

How about the fact that you've been pimping this comic for nigh on a year and he only picked it up randomly just now.

I'm giving him 5 years till he comes around on non-linear storytelling...

Eat structure.

Truth be told, I picked this up because a) it reminded me of Bluebottle and b) because KCBC always raved about it.

Volume one is the least of the three, Whedo, but still very entertaining. He's obviously finding his way with story and art. Infinite Sadness has some solid emotional moments amidst the video game violence and jokes at how pathetic Scott really is.

It was just a review I think, and on IESB. Apparently it was unfavorable and was pulled at the behest of someone on the film.
Not sure how you could write a shitty script based on Scott Pilgrim, though, unless you completely abandon the source material; I've been reading Precious Little Life with my cinema-colored lenses on and it could most definitely make a kickass comedic-action-love-story-type thingy.

(Totally agreed on Latino Review btw, but in fairness they're absolutely horrible writers themselves so it's only natural for them to love everything else.)

DAMN! I meant to grab that and post it on here, but I forgot. The review was unfavorable because the reviewer was a FUCKING IDIOT. He even stated that he was probably way too old to get all of the pop culture references, but from his descriptions of the script it sounded SPOT ON! It literally sounded perfect.

WHy are Latino review, Latino review?

I get that the guys are hispanic but it seems like an odd angle to base a movie website on.
Sorry if this is a bit off topic but it's always been something I've wondered about.
Oh and I have to agree that they have really poor taste, especially in script reviews.
Elitism is positing that your taste is equivalent to quality, you hate "Hamlet" does it make it "bad"? If you think so, you're one elite motherfucker.

I was browsing the IMDb page for Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life yesterday and happened upon perhaps the only intelligent thing ever written in their forums: Jorma Taccone (Hot Rod, The Lonely Island) as Scott Pilgrim.

Image

I haven't seen Hot Rod but Jorma's pretty damn funny in the Lonely Island shorts and so help me he's the only actor I can think of who might be able to pull it off.

Thoughts?

Not Shia LaBeouf?!?!

Jorba looks kind of like what I'd imagine Scott Pilgrim to look like if he were a real person, but I don't know if I've seen any of the stuff he's been in. Must webstigate further...

Heh. Shia's too busy playing Yorick, Ant-Man, The Flash, Young Snake Plissken, Ribbons, Ribbins, Iron Fist, Justice League's Superman, Luke Cage...
Obviously there's a shortage of young white male actors these days and he's trying to pick up the slack but, dammit, there's only so much Shia to go around!

(He will have time to play Young Neil, though).

Funny thing is I always thought BlueBottle could play Scott Pilgrim in real life... I think he brainwashed me, the Canadian savage!

EDIT: Can't wait to hear your feedback Maui... you totally picked the right time to get into Scott Pilgrim, as the #4 is coming out soon enough.

Off to buy volume one on Friday.

Pilgrim needs to be animated. Live action would make the fight scenes look ridiculous but not in the way they're supposed to look ridiculous.

which is why, out of all the possible directors in the world, the only one I would trust to do a live-action Pilgrim justice would be Edgar Wright.

SPACED proved, for me, that he has the chops to do what could/should be animation and make it relatively plausible for a live-action flick.
