I know the "so to speak" codicil makes this moot, but they had teh Bendis, and aside from the plotting (done by Millar), those issues blew like the solar wind.

I just meant that Bendis has been with Ultimate Spider-Man for close to 100 issues...he was able to find his groove and ride it out...all the writers for UFF haven't been able to hit that groove yet...and it seems that right as they are about too...they leave the book.
Imagine if Ellis was allowed to write 18-24 issues of Ultimate FF? I didn't mean that Bendis should write UFF...I just meant that they need to find the person who they can hand over the reins to for a long period of time.

But I'll take a cheap shot at Bendis anytime it's there.

NRAMA: With JMS’s recently-announced upcoming departure from Fantastic Four, can you offer up any information at to the future of that title? Who’s the next writer? Will Mike McKone remain as artist?
JQ: The new writer for FF will be Dwayne McDuffie! How’s that for breaking news. We’ll have more info on FF in the weeks to come.
Adam Balm wrote:At least Black Panther and his new wife make more sense than She-Hulk or Luke Cage did when they joined I guess. At least BP has a history with the FF. But I was kind of hoping Franklin and Herbie would be deputized, considering their stars are on the rise in their own title. It gets kinda boring after a while seeing this old musical chairs again. "Sue out. She-Hulk in. Sue back in. Reed out. Ant-Man in. Then Reed back in again. Sue Storm out, now other Storm in."
Uggh. Every time they do this everyone knows it's not going to last and it's all so pointless, yet they do it again. Give me something that shows some growth for the characters, not the same endless old cycle.

No I came in about midway through JMS' run. I didn't start collecting trades and what not of back issues until about last year so I never got around to picking up the Waid stuff. Is it worth collecting?

It's what turned me into a hardcore fan. I'd rank it above Byrne. The best stuff since Lee and Kirby.

It's weird being back to monthly. I thought this was still weeks away, but here were are coming out every month on FF like good boys. This is the Ben and Debbie engagement issue, next issue begins a two part horror thing in Scotland and then it's our final four part arc as Clyde Wyncham from 1985 returns in THE MASTER OF DOOM.

Yep, starting in April Bry and I conclude our (awesome) FF run with the biggest story of them all: The man who tutored Doctor Doom. And he's back, baby. See here...

Remember when Doom went off with those monks as a young man? Who trained him in the black arts? Who made him the bad-ass he is today and what does he think of what Doom's accomplished? It all ends here, my friends, in the biggest story yet.

PS But before that, don't miss FF 564 and 565 where the FF come to Scotland. It's a creepy wee two parter I originally planned as a special, but works very well here.
