OK, I'm interested to see if the infamous Dark Knight Returns will top the zones poll of best Bat-Book. Top 5 Batman Books please, poll to follow.

Here's my list:

1 - The Killing Joke
2 - Gotham By Gaslight
3 - Son of the Demon
4 - Year One
5 - A Death in the Family

I think I've only read 5...

1. DK Returns

2. The Killing Joke

3. Year One

4. Arkham Asylum

5. DK Strikes Again
Personally, I'm an atheist in the voting booth and a theist in the movie theatre. I separate the morality of religion with the spirituality and solace of it. There is something boring about atheism.

1. The Man Who Laughed
2. Year One
3. Mad Love
4. The Killing Joke
5. Joker Devil's Advocate

What can I say? I really like The Joker.

Others in no order:

Venom
World's Finest (both Steve Rude's and the Animated version)
A Death In The Family
War On Crime
Grendel/Batman Batman/Grendel
Year Two (mostly the stuff they used for Mask Of The Phantasm)
Mr Freeze (by Paul Dini [looking forward to his run])
Arkham Asylum
Dark Knight Returns

3. Arkham Asylum
4. Hush
5. Year One

honorable mention to The Killing Joke . . .

seriously, I don't see much variation going on here . . . great idea for a thread, though the greatest few are obvious and untouchable :-p . . .

man, I think I need to pull out Arkham . . . I need a good dose of Two-face tarot card IPAMPing . . .

Iconny, Hush? I absolutely LOVE the art, but I just don't see it beating out The Killing Joke.

I am interested in why you like it more than Year One and the Killing Joke?

the art. period. I love lee, and the images from that have such an imprint in my mind as what batman LOOKS like . . . not the events/story that occur therein (not that it's lacking) . . . though I agree, it's a fine line I treaded on there . . .
