For those of you that don't know...Brian Bendis is going to be writing a second Avengers title called Mighty Avengers, Frank Cho will be providing the artwork. This title is going to ship alongside the New Avengers.

Wizard #180 has a preview of the new title...and over at wizard.com you can get a glimpse. CLICK HERE FOR THE MIGHTY AVENGERS!

Sounds pretty cool. Bendis works best when he's zipping along happily, and not going down the Daredevil 'I must make him miserable' route.

He has promised plenty of action from this new title. I distinctly remember him saying something similar about the New Avengers...and that hasn't been very accurate. We shall see. I am not sure why there is a need for TWO Avengers books...but I will have to wait until the end of Civil War to see if there actually is a genuine reason.

I tend to categorise Marvel books singularly. Like Astonishing X-Men is my canon X-Men book over the rest. Makes things simpler. So I'd just take the Avengers book I read and ignore the other... until they decide to do cross-overs in both comics and then I go into debt because Marvel is going bi-weekly again.

I discovered Frank Cho when I lived in D.C. he was the local comic celebrity. I've loved his work since. I havenever been a huge avengers fan, but I have been more and more impressed with recent stuff like ultimates and the new avengers was alright. I would like to give this book a chance.

Just saw this. Really like the line-up for the team, especially that they're finally calling Ms. Marvel an Avenger again after she's been kicking around New Avengers for the past fifteen issues or so.

I love the split happening after Civil War. It feels like a natural place to cut the teams in two and continue their conflict, despite who the "winner" is. Only thing is that I wish the New Avengers had been able to run 50 issues or so before splitting them up. As it is, I don't feel like the team is a cohesive unit yet. Feels like they just announced to the world and now they're splitting up. Both House of M and Civil War should've been pushed two, three years down the line.

Still, looking forward to this.

Looks like a good time to get into The Avengers for the first time...think I'll give this title a go. Is that WonderMan? WonderMan was great back in the day...

Man, I really want to write an Iron-Man comic from scratch.

On-topic, the teams are in the same universe. Urgh, that makes things a little more complex for me.

If done well, the interaction between the books could be great. While this might be a blatant cash-grab by Marvel, there's a legitimate narrative purpose to having the two teams with two different outlooks. The priorities and mission statements of the mutiple X-teams tend to run together so much, they need to be restated every three years or so ("Okay, you guys are the teaching team and we're the away mission team--and you guys over there can go off into space.").

Anyway, this should work pretty nicely.

Ooooooow, I like it. Don't know a thing about Marvel Ares, but I always enjoyed mythological Ares. I'm sure Bendis will work the god thing nicely.

I would be more excited if they kill Sentry in the first issue. He has to be one of the lamest creations ever. Such a whiney stick.

OK, I'll say it: I like The Sentry... in theory.
There are some cool elements to his character and I think, under the pen of someone who knows what to do with him, you could see some fun stories.

Unfortunately, the eponymous serious sucked out loud and ruined most of his potential.

The second park of Frank Cho's interview is up HERE, with a bunch of inked pages from an upcoming issue.

Gotta say, I don't love the art. It's okay, but a little too... round? To curvy? I don't know.

Damn, when reading Civil War I was convinced that one of the Avengers teams (the pro gov one) would be a return to the original Avengers line up, i.e.

Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Hank Pym
Wasp.

The art reminds me a bit of Ryan Ottley's Invincible work... not sure why.

Hopefully color will add a little more bite to it.

Echo is the first New New Avenger. Ronin is the second.

I say Ronin's going to turn out to be Captain America. A "masterless samurai?" Come on now... Who else would fit that bill other than a Captain America who no longer believes in his America? And if New Avengers is supposed to be the "secret" anti-registration Avengers, Cap's gotta be on the team.

Unless it's Hawkeye.

There are eight in all. Here are my guesses:

1) Echo
2) Ronin (Captain America)
3) Spider-Man
4) Luke Cage
5) Spider-Woman
6) The Falcon
7) Daredevil
8) Hawkeye

yeah, me too.

in fact, after reading a bunch of super early avengers books, i pretty much loathe all of them, with the exception of the hulk, who's maltreatment is the catalyst of my hatred for those other jerks.

i would like to see hulk come back and kill all of those guys.

I think so, yeah. And Ms. Marvel sorta counts, as she kinda rejoined the team right before Civil War.

Seriously though, Bendis' whole run on New Avengers frustrates the hell out of me because it screamed of such great potential. But he should've had 100 issues with the team to play them all off each other and really establish their own identity--not to mention to really dig into the breakout at The Raft that was supposed to be central to the relaunch--before splitting them up. They didn't even register as a team! I mean, some of the members were there, some weren't and the one's who weren't even on the team got the most face time! Should've been an awesome book and he fuckered it.

Still, I'm hoping the post-Civil War stuff will be fun.

Doctor Strange is number three.

I've never really been a fan of the character, though I'm digging BKV's "The Oath" miniseries. And since he was the deus ex machina at the end of Disassembled, maybe it'll be good for Bendis to tie it all together, like it's one story after all.

Cho makes me very angry these days. I know he has a wife and two very young children. Feeding and clothing and having insurance are more important than what he made on Liberty Meadows and occasional illo work. But must he commit to an ongoing title? There's been one Liberty Meadows in three years and he swore when he took it to Image it would be at least quarterly.

*sigh*

Spider-Woman is number five.

She was kind of a given, seeing as Bendis says New Avengers is going to focus on the mysteries surrounding SHIELD (there's a mystery surrounding SHIELD?) he started in on in the first arc. She's played a pretty central role in all that hoopla, should be nice to see her story continue.

So: Echo, Ronin, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, and Spider-Woman.

Doesn't really seem like a "classic" Avengers line-up, but it might work.

I really like what Bendis has done with Spider-Woman...so we'll see.

Folks at Newsarama are speculating Iron Fist could be one of the new characters, perhaps replacing Luke Cage. Or maybe replacing Spider-Man. One of those two ain't coming back, I say.

I say Hawkeye is getting one of the final spots, and I could definitely see Bendis tapping Daredevil. And Cap is DEFINITELY Ronin.

Well judging by the synopsis given for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in the newest Marvel previews I would say he is DEFINITELY not coming back to the Avengers.

It seems to me that having Ronin, DD, and Iron Fist on the same team would be rather redundant. I mean they are pretty similarin fighting styles.

Cage as the TEAM LEADER?! SERIOUSLY?!

Someone please check up Brian Bendis' ass and see if you can find his head. I like me some Luke Cage, but the guy's a thug, not a squad leader. Sorry, but this one doesn't fly with me, and I'm usually pretty easy on Bendis.
