The general cost of living hasn't risen 25,000 percent in 35 years. They can't afford to put an entire year's titles on disc at that price, though; It would have to be more like several hundred dollars. The typical comic sells fewer than 15,000 copies these days but art and story page rates are higher than ever for top talent.
I like getting comics in a serialized format, personally. I'm impatient about my stories and I'm used to getting most titles once a month. But if they published two original Whedon X-volumes or three Powers books a year I'd happily buy comics that way. I don't want my comics on disc except for archival purposes. Print is the perfect mass medium. Most books are light enough to carry around and they don't need electricity.

I remember the days when the comics I bought were purchased with the leftover change from a trip to the store, any store. Now you need a thumb print and a promissory note just to get in the door of the one place in a 20 mile radius that carries them. I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before comics are only published quarterly as trades.stereosforgeeks wrote:Lastly, what are the cheapest places online to get the books. Amazon?
I'd suggest also comparing prices at Mile High Comics, East Coast Comics, and Barnes & Noble. Get on the Mile High mailing list and every once in a while they have code word sales.
