I've been a fan ever since I first heard David Axelrod's two classic albums of the same names and decided to check out the source of his inspiration.
They're probably best read next to Blake's trippy illustrations, so if it did get through I'd recommend finding a copy with both.

First up, I'll second this nominee from Maui:
Margaret Atwood's The Door. A collection of 50 of her poems.

10 Days left in January. Is everyone happy with Margaret Atwood's The Door or do you have other works in mind?

I love Atwood, but I've never read her poetry. So, I'm happy.

darkjedijaina wrote:ah. so, we have, what... 7 days left til March?
i think you'd had the theme for March as 'Classics', Gaffney.
if we go that route, could we perhaps do Lord of the Flies or Brave New World or something like that?
if not, maybe we could try a graphic novel? i'm kind of on a kick with those at the moment.. but i'm open to anything.

Seriously though, you shouldn't be setting the agenda here - it's clearly not working out. Maybe you should quit modding the book forum, and just focus on your editing work.thomasgaffney wrote:Vegeta wrote:I love books that make me quiver with feminine delight and squeal like a little girl!
Feminine themes it is!

Gaffney has disappeared, should we still go ahead with the book of the month, or wait a little longer?
I think we should still go ahead. A graphic novel is a great idea.

if someone wants to make it a book club selection, I'd be down.
This months?I am in the middle of Dune but I think I can manage both.
I knew Meirelles had a new movie coming but didnt realize it was the same as the book until this thread. My friend will be quite pleased.

what say ya'll for June?
it may take me a while to get to it, but not 'cuz the blurbs and book jacket summary haven't gotten me thoroughly fucking jazzed for it ('cuz they have)...
but I've been greedily tearing through the first 4 books of the Dark Tower, and while I'll probably do the same for the final 3, that is one intimidating pile of pages lying before me.
I guess I've got 3 weeks to get 'em back to the Oakland Public Library, but after that, I'm starting BLINDNESS...
