My wife was just handed a bazillion Dean Koontz books for ner Nook. She asked me what his best works are. Never read his stuff. Told her I knew 'Watchers' was really popular back in the day.

Any suggestions?

The only Koontz story I vaguely remember reading is Night Chills.

Something about mind control experiments and of course the evil government scientist couldn't keep his pants on. Not sure I'd recommend it but as i said, memory is very vague.

I've never read it but I hear Intensity is one of his best.

Personally, the only Koontz book that ever gets read around my house is Ticktock.

I've never read him, but I do know that he really churns the shit out. I distrust writers who write faster than I can read. They're probably trying to waste my time.

Especially since every other book he writes has a magic dog in it or some fucking thing. I read a bit of Relentless and had to give up because the characters' actions made no sense and it was infuriating. And apparently there is a magic teleporting dog. I didn't get that far, but I could see it coming. I knew there was something magical about the dog.

It was shit.

She picked the first book in his "Odd Thomas" series. The premise sounds exactly like the show, Medium.

The first Odd Thomas is really good, but his best IMHO is Hideaway from the early 90s. Another good one was Phantoms, but you're better off just renting the movie version...Affleck was da bomb in Phantoms, yo

I would disagree and urge you to avoid Phantoms - the book and the movie. Unless you are a Rose McGowan completist....

Koontz - hehehehe.
Well only ever read Sole Survivor, way before the movie came out, I thought it was pretty good for a trashy holiday book. Ridiculous conspiracies and evil experiments etc etc. Always remember the bit about the kid who could make things dissapear, who one day started to send parts of himself into the ether, that was really creepy.
