Transformers 3

All the dirt. All the top secret stuff. Anything that has to do with the process of getting us to sit and watch something projected on the big screen.

Transformers 3

Postby Leckomaniac on Thu Oct 01, 2009 12:14 pm

I apologize if there is already a thread for this, but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, Michael Bay has announced a release date for Transformers 3

Well its official: We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st 2011. Not 2012.

Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I'm flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep. As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Pain and Gain is right after shooting of Trans 3.

Michael

You'll notice, Mr. Bay has some words in there for his chatty young actress, Megan Fox.

I never got around to seeing Transformers 2 and I can't imagine I will be up for this one. But the movie broke the $400 million mark domestically so this was a bit of a no-brainer.

Thoughts? Speculation?

Coincidentally, that's exactly the same disclaimer Polanski has.

I speculate that it's going to suck. Also that John Turturro will somehow wind up in his underwear.

I think you are on to something. We'll have to see if the first teaser image includes suckage and underwear in Optimus Primes eye. Be sure to invert the image, if at first you don't find something.

well, he was in his underwear in the first one.
in the 2nd one, we got his bare ass (in imax, no less... still trying to get that image out of my head).

so, the natural progression dicates that in TF3, we'll get to see the inside of his colon.

That's a Zonie nomination right there - I've missed your humour, Tony!

I enjoyed the first film. I didn't think the second was quite the heinous crime Grande Rojo et al did, on the main page. It was worse, but it wasn't awful - my biggest problem was having no idea which robot had just done what, which pretty much undermined the key points of the film. A third film isn't terrible news - but i' Bay, so the next film will have even more robots and therefore the problems will continue to increase exponentially.

Shame though - I thought he did most things right with the first one.

Sorry but the 2nd one was a mess, and I am a fan of the first.

My biggest problem was the end, the one thing most critics gave a pass to.

I'm a TF geek, and before TF 2 I don't recall the Decepticon forces just being multiple clones of the Constructicons... I coulnted at least 3 copies of each character in the final battle. This just shouldn't be...

I was also expecting a more G1 look to help make them more distinguished, as Hasbro expressed displeasure with kids not knowing who was who in the first one. They can rationalise it easier since they can constantly change their form no reasin they wouldn't become more accustomed to their robot form they now have and tighten up the gaps and all (I mean really Bay, they're robots first and cars second, their robot forms shouldn't all look this disjointed...)

The fact that their fast tracking this tells me it will be horrendously shit. Barely enough time for effects work, so expect reusing animation or maybe ILM just has a TF program hooked up by now?

There will be less of a coherent story than last time and I'll die a little more inside...

Thanks, Doc. I've missed your funny and cynical ass too. I watched TF2 on Friday night, well I fell asleep right round the time the matrix thing disintegrates and caught the rest early this morning. I think that's colouring my judgement somewhat cus I enjoyed the end, it was just like watching a saturday morning cartoon but with Megan Fox and I actually thought the action was much better this time around, sure the machines still look weightless most of the time and it's hard to tell which robot is which but I could make out the wrestling moves and suchlike this time whereas in the first it was just a blur. Maybe it's cus I've been playing Quake and got used to seeing things happen in stupidly short amounts of time. On the other hand the one thing I liked about the first film - that it was funny, was all gone in this film and it just resembled a particularly violent 8yr olds idea of what's funny what with the tasering and all. Plus it's the first time a Bay film ever named the President and it be the real world POTUS all to make digs at Obama through his nerdy proxy, which is just sad.

The 2nd one was an abomination, I'm sorry, but unless you are 12, have a scientifically quantified mental age of 12 or under, then all the movie has is Megan Fox's ass, and Mcauley Culkin's (?) Elvis quiff for all the moms. It wasn't even well put together, the use of wideangle lenses in the most domestic of locations just made for terrible viewing. This isn't a Gilliam film (which similarly use the wideangle lens), but it is the filmic , disorientating equivalent of doing a quick Hunter S Thompson on yourself, which either makes you infinitely wiser through a cleansing puking of the soul or causes you to mentally regress to being 12. IT's like all the terrible things from The Phantom Menace x50,0000 with a dash of Lindsay Lohans' pant perfume. THE FUCKING TRANSFORMERS BOSS SOUNDED LIKE ASLAN, WTF!1! He's a robot, not a christian lion. I watched the first 15mins, and unfortunately had to hear the rest, I was positively scraping out the turds from my ears as it seemed as though the movie travelled through an 80's kiddy movie timewarp randomly snatching the most bland lines from each and every one of them before giving them to Octomush prime to utter, like the he was the FUCKING LION KING. The section in Shanghai at the start looked like it was set in a Canton (South China) shipping yard, and kept repeating the same crappy Cantonese (styled font) sign as though this indicated that the film was set in China and not some studio backlot mashed up with CG, done just so that they could sell an extra 1.3 billion more tickets to the Chinese audience, and cinema tickets in China are not cheap either, thats over $24 a ticket.

To say this movie was "good", is like describing Mcdonalds as "good, healthy food", which, incidentally, Mcdonalds does do in China.

Is Shia Maculay Culkin's Elvis quiff? More than mom's like him...though he is popular with older women.

I don't care how much it sucks, I don't even know what the hell happened in the second one, but I can't wait to see the next one. You put Shia on a screen, I'll pay to see it. My only complaint is that he'll probably be orange.

Bwahaha!

And Snowapple, yeah, I was refering to Shia as McCauley Culkin's elvis quiff. I genuinely had forgotten his name, but felt that summed him up rather well.

From /film 03/24/2009: Orci and Kurtzman Not Returning for Transformers 3?

From MichaelBay.com 09/13/2009: Transformers 3, Pain & Gain, Bad Boys 3

From SciFi SQUAD:
'Transformers 3' to Have Less Action, More Emotion?
Michael Bay wrote:"I think more has to be made of Bumblebee in the third one. That's a definite, because that's a relationship you want to explore more. And I think we're definitely going to get more into the robot characters. This movie got very big, very grand, and we covered a lot of ground. In the third one it doesn't have to be as big. We could go darker; it definitely has to be more emotional ... and it's not just going to be about action, action, action."
