Paul W.S. Anderson to Direct Castlevania -- Ugh...

All the dirt. All the top secret stuff. Anything that has to do with the process of getting us to sit and watch something projected on the big screen.

Tombstone sucks? You suck, that's who sucks!!!

No way you're deconstructing that finely stated case

So - Castlevania....okay, Anderson isn't a first choice, not even in a nightmarish world ruled by Boll. But, fans of the game - what are the 5 things you would want to see in a Castlevania film...the 5 key things. Sort of an idiots guide to how not to drop the ball completely, if you will....

I don't see how video game adaptions are a genre. They can be all kinds of genres like horror(Silent Hill), action(Doom) or WTF (Super Mario Bros.)

Did that get lost in the page change or was it ignored willfully?

For me, Howie D as Genma Alucard.

I mean, hell, I think at this point BSB should go their separate ways, and the later version of Alucards were based on his vamp character, anyway...

Not Antonio Banderas

A Remarkable Simulation

And yes, he does act...sadly, not frequently. I'm wondering when his movie "Bloom" will ever be released, where he plays an anti-semite who harasses a Jewish boy readying for his Bar Mitzvah. (I'm surprised it wasn't picked up, considering Jeff Goldblum was invovled as well.)

Getting back to the point, they have to have the loli-ish costume designs of the newer games. Hell, set the whole thing in modern times. That would make me less mad at Universal.

Get Visual Kei bands to do the soundtrack. (Yes, I'm blaring Malice Mizer/Moi Dix Mois as I'm writing this...)

Turns round again....but again, the sniggering stops just in time. Runs for the door and leaves. As door closes, can hear the entire room burst out in laughter.

As for Castlevania - I dunno what to make of the fact they're making this movie - putting the choice of director to one side for the moment. ITs true that as a fledgling genre, the game-to-movie conversion doesn't have too many jewels sitting in its crown right now - but that will change over the next decade.

I guess because of the type of game Castlevania was I can't help but veer towards the Mario Bros movie when I picture this as a film - I hope I'm wrong.

For me so far SILENT HILL has been the film that's done better than the rest - and shows that these films can work if someone puts some thought into them and how they should be approached.

With that news LaDracul, I think I'm starting to get an idea as to what we can expect. Loved him in TNG- but these days 'The Frakes Effect' rivals even 'The Caruso Touch' when it comes to Motion Pictures....

And that's news how?

The thing that gets me is that Universal already has a vamp franchise that has a cult following, but they either want to give it the dreaded cheapquel treatment or don't have any clue people like it. Screw Wolvie, I want to see Hugh hunt vamps again!

Even though I don't think I've played any of the games other than the first one, I pretty much agree with what this dude says...
At least in what he does discuss and explain...

In it's current state it just sounds like it was run through the plot generator and sent along it's way...

To me it sounds like PWSA had a Dracula script lying around & just changed the title & the name of the main character.

Either that or his knowledge of the franchise doesn't extend beyond vague memories of someone telling him about the original game back when it first came out,

Someone needs to track down PWSA and beat the shit out of him with a chain whip until he gets the fucking point.

Or, we could be nice and just send him copies of the Castlevania games, since it seems he's never seen one before.

And I love what he says so far:
"The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility," he continues. "That’s the East-meets-West tone I want to visually expand on for the film. I’m thrilled by the opportunity to make a highly stylized, fantasy, action film that focuses on the gothic storyline and the cool, anime-like characters. For once, the human hero is as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain, and his weapon of choice was what attracted me to the project in the first place – The Vampire Killer Whip.”

Sounds so much cooler than what was planned before!

‘Castlevania’ TV Series Coming From ‘Adventure Time’ Producer?
