How can you go wrong with that music? Pretty awesome though suspiciously little of the suit in full.

it's a "teaser" meant to "tease" you.

hey, anyone know what the title of that piece of john williams music is?

that's always been my favorite part, much better than the main title march...

If that's a teaser, consider me tasered.

I could not be happier with the look of the trailer. Digital effects give the entirety a look unavailable when "you (would) believe a man can fly."

Using Brando's VO was nice, too.

The curl in silhouette may have been a tad much.

It sounded great, the score, the v.o. Most of it looked good too. But was I the only person who thought some of those shots looked way too similar to shots from Batman Begins and Spider-Man? Those shots being Clark falling through the roof of the barn and Clark jumping/soaring through the cornfield. Eh? Eh? Anybody?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not denouncing the entire film or anything. And it doesn't matter that they're comic book movies. Singer still could have shot them to look different. I mean, come on. In the cornfield scene, Clark is even moving exactly like Peter did when first started jumping across rooftops. I'm just saying.

The jump across the cornfield looked very much like the building-leaps in the first Spider-Man.

Bean, I think the spit curl may have been aimed at older readers/viewers who associate it more with the character. That was one of the jokes about Supey -- he's just Kent with no glasses and a curl on his forehead.

I looked at it online a couple of times. When he drops from orbit at the end, is that flare supposed to be a sonic shockwave, or superheated air? Adam, whaddaya think?

Looked at it again. Both, I think.

Just watched it again. [total fanboy mode] Jesus Christ, that's cool! [/total fanboy mode]

Yeah, I hadn't noticed it before. It would have to be superheated atmosphere, ala a spacecraft upon re-entry. I can look up the numbers and try to work out how fast he'd have to be going, but it would also depend on the angle of attack, the shape of the airfoil (i.e., his body.) so that might be pointless...

Not worth your time, sir. I wondered because I heard a bang and am sufficiently ignorant to not know if it would always/usually accompany reentry. Thanks.

Clark doesn't have to keep his nose up. Speeds up re-entry all to hell. But does it blow his hair around? The hair is invulnerable, but the style shouldn't be.

Enough. Time to sign off. Thanks, guys.

Looks damn fine!!!

FYI, that shot of Routh opening his eyes is the first time you see Supes in the flick.

And I agree, Doc, about the Burly Superman look. Sometimes they go a little too far with the CG, make things look a little too composed.

Right, but wasn't Peter jumping across the rooftops modeled to look quite a bit like Clark did in Donner's Superman when he was "racing" the train.

That is a very cool teaser............

I am sure this will be a fantastic movie ( even if I had some Spacey misgivings at the beginning ) and Routh might not quite look the part as Supes but I think he will make a good Clark..........

Blue, so sorry not to have answered this earlier. I missed the question entirely, somehow.

That piece is simply called, "The Planet Krypton." It's the first music after the opening credits, as we move through space to Krypton, come down into Kryptonopolis and finally into the chamber where Jor-El is prosecuting Zod, Ursa and Non. If memory serves. It's definitely played while we move through space onto Krypton.

If ya'll want to experience something cool, go out and get yourselves a copy of the Superman Special Edition. It has an isolated music track, where you hear only John Williams's score.

The Superman album was slick. Two LPs, fold-out package, big art, lots of shots from the movie on the sleeves.

I love old vinyl packages, but I finally traded off almost all of my LPs some months back. They took up a lot of space and I hadn't listened to them in years and years. Superman had a few scratches. What can I say?

I kept all my Bruce Springsteen, because the quality on the CDs is inferior. Also kept my "First Family," "Doonesbury" and "Saturday Night Live" LPs. You remember them, eh, the Dino? Cool stuff.

damn that was cool! It was so good I watched it twice.

I really do wish christopher reeve was alive to make a cameo in this picture, he was just so amazingly talented, I love how he really embraced the dork like secret identity side of superman as much as the man of steal part. I was reminded of this recently because the original movies were on TV but from what I've seen of this new film I don't think the Clark character is going to used as much as in the first 3. Which sucks because that was truly what made those movies so enjoyable.

MINOR SPOILERS!! regarding how you first meet up with Superman. Quote it to read:

As you see in the trailer, Superman's crystal ship is searching the ruins of Krypton. We open with him there on a nice CU of his eyes. It's taken him something like six years to find Krypton, but he's soon forced to turn around and head back to Earth. Hence, he returns.

Honestly, the plot for his return isn't rocket science. He comes home to the farm, rests up and heads back to Metropolis.
