That looks pretty sweet. I don't know how good the film will turn out, but I have had that hi-res face-on picture of Kong's as my background since Harry mentioned it on the site. Basically, I'm looking forward to this. Thanks for the heads up John!

I really wasnt excited by the teaser trailers for Kong. I was completely underwhelmed by them. Im really not the biggest fan of CGI filled movies. I'm still waiting to see more of the film tho before I make my final decision.

Yeah I've had Kong as my Desktop since Harry posted the High res pic, it's nice to stare into his eyes, I love their work and it's not even finished yet.

I have total faith in PJ, he's never let me down before.

I think they should've marketed this like Jurassic Park was, never showing Kong but throwing out rumors on how awesome he looks.

Anyway, I love how this movie is shaping up to be. My worry was with Jack Black, but he's talented enough to pull this off, and he was great in the teaser.

burl, burl, burl ... you don't know the history of Adrien Brody.

Actually, you probably do, so wait for DVD if at all.

And you're not glib.

Im a negative bastard when it comes to most CGI. I HOPE that this movie totally feels/looks real and the CGI doesnt pull me out of the story being told. Im a big fan of King Kong (even the 1976 version most people hate) so I hope Im wrong.

What about Godzilla vs. King Kong? That's what introduced me to Kong in the first place.

I think the first thing I saw was King Kong 1976, then I saw the 30s version (the best). In the 80s I watched King Kong Lives (with Linda Hamilton) and the other ones like Godzilla Vs King Kong etc.

I'm also gonna wait for this on DVD to see.
nothing in that trailer made me feel excited enough to spend 20 bucks to see it on the big screen.
Burl, I'm with you on the Brody-hating tip.
I also don't like Jack Black in this role (i don't like him much in any role, but especially this).

Actually, as the forum just informed me, it is I who is glib, not you sir.

BTB: I just can't get excited by this film. The trailer had me going until I saw the T-Rex and Kong, and I just lost interest. It seemed like Jurassic Park 4 meets Mighty Joe Young CGI wise. Eh, whatever.

Narnia in December hopefully will inspire me.

"Herb, get the camera."

Smash cut to PJ's title card.

Best part of the trailer, hands down.

Personally, I liked it quite a bit. Yes, there are some moments that feel a little CG-heavy and I'm quite sure they'll be smoothed out more, but I felt the same way about shots in LOTR. Brilliant, brilliant movies, but you're sometimes too aware of the FX. Now, don't get me wrong, in those films, and likely in Kong, for every shot where you're "aware" of the CG, there's a half million other things going on you'll never think of.

Obviously, you want the craft to rise to a level where you're not distracted by it, and Gollum was by far the closest we've come to that, CG-wise. I have great faith that Kong will be even more subtle and nuanced, with greater textures, lighting, hair movement, etc.

I think we'll all quickly forget about the technique and learn to love the big ape as a big ape, not a digital proxy.

I had a similar feeling before I saw the trailer in the theater (as opposed to on my laptop), and I had a far different reaction after having seen it on the big screen. I'm now kind of looking forward to it..

Dino, you a do the first, and a you have a done the second. Take a bow, Mr. DeLaurentis!

Even with the brilliance of Gollum, CGI worries me. I keep thinking about those demons in Spawn. Was that guy using an Intellevision?

Paul Walker was mentioned in reference to aesthetics. But I thought is work in the seminole masterpiece Varsity Blues was heartbreak and human drama personified.

Okay, I'll give you that Paul Walker is a good looking guy, but doesn't listening to him, or watching him, try to act bring down your overall love for him? At least Pitt and Damon don't make me cringe when they speak.
