I've only seen First Blood and the most recent Rambo. Does Rambo ever get any action other than warfare in the other Rambo films?

I would love to see Terry Gilliam on board and make Fear and Loathing in Cambodia: Fifth Blood: The Wreckoning (yes that was intentional)

But seriously, having a POV of Rambo's jacked up psyche.

Rambo 5 is apparently going to be more of a drama, which makes me really happy. I loved how the Rambo 4 was just a simple gorefest and all, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Stallone build a Rambo story that isn't structured around action and really explore the character back in America.

I really want them to get Laura Linney as his love interest. She's a milf who does a pained-concerned experession like nobody else.

And in Stallone I trust.

From Coming Soon:
Sylvester Stallone, who is preparing to shoot action-adventure The Expendables, told Extra that he's planning to play John Rambo again.

"Yeah, we are doing another 'Rambo,' but the conflict is whether to do it in America or a foreign country," said Stallone.

Sly last played the role in Lionsgate's January 25, 2008 release Rambo, which earned $113.2 million worldwide. That pic cost $50 million to make.

From Variety:
Stallone readies for fifth 'Rambo' - Nu Image/Millennium Films greenlights pic

DAVE MCNARY wrote:John Rambo's officially readying for a fifth mission.

Nu Image/Millennium Films has greenlit the franchise's fifth installment, with Sylvester Stallone starring and directing, repeating his duties from 2008's "Rambo."

The upcoming project's storyline revolves around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production will start in the spring.

The film will be produced by Avi Lerner, Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson. Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson will exec produce.

Stallone had indicated in interviews that a fifth Rambo was in the works. He teamed with Nu Image/Millennium on the 2008 project, which grossed $42 million domestically and $113 million overseas.

Nu Image/Millennium is in post-production on "Expendables," starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke. The actioner's set for release on April 23 through Lionsgate.

Rambo first appeared in the 1982 pic "First Blood," followed in 1985 by "First Blood II" and in 1988 by "Rambo III."

AAHAHAAAAHAHAAA!!!! Gurgle gurgle! My sentiments exactly. Man I can't tell if this guy was being Rambo deliberately or not as he is so close!

Anyways, I like the Rambo story that is posted on AICN and it SHOULD be on home soil I reckon, at least to give it something more different to the usual Rambo warfests abroad that we've got. The 5th movie needs to be refreshed.

I'm not sure about this. I thought the ending of Rambo rapped up the story really nicely.

I'd like to see him find peace.
I know the whole story consists of "for this man, there is no peace" but still, I though the long walk home represented that he's finally going to have some peace.

It also added the whole Lion King like circle.
I'm sure films did it before Lion King, where at the end of the film, you could watch it from the start & it'd feel like a continuation.
Repetitive, sure, but it'd make sense.
Rambo's walking & walking at the end of the film, then you put First Blood on & he's still walking.
It works.

The last film didn't disappoint, so i'll probably be seeing this.
I do kinda hope that he does get shot in the head at the end though.

From Wikipedia:

John James Rambo was born on July 6, 1947 in Bowie, Arizona to a Navajo father (R. Rambo according to the last film) and a mother (Marie Dragoo) of Italian descent. However, in Rambo: First Blood Part II, Marshall Murdock states that Rambo is of Native American–German descent.

I just looked it up for a laugh, and its pretty cool. I knew he was supposed to be part Navajo, but there seems to be some confusion over the other half of his heritage. But his dad is a navajo, so with further investigation (thank you google/navajo names) I found this:

ROWTAG: Algonquin name meaning "fire."

Which is the only male name with R for starters. Is this the mystery solved?

There was a small-town ice cream stand called Rambo's where I grew up. The guy who owned the place was one Dick Rambo. True story.

Now you guys have me thinking how cool it would be if John Rambo's dad had owned the ice cream stand a few blocks away from my house.

Sly's name was tossed around a bit when AvP 2 was in devevlopment.

From IESB.net 26 September 2006: AVP 2 Closer to Cameron's Aliens and Predator 3 Starring Sly Stallone?

Robert Sanchez wrote:Is there hope for AVP 2? According to one of our readers the storyline for the new film will resemble Cameron"s Aliens instead of the first AVP. He also tells us that there is talk for a new stand alone Predator film that will not feature The Rock or John Cena as previously rumored but instead possibly Sly Stallone.

Our reader that goes by Ink Blot sent in this email with some details from AVP 2 plus some Predator 3 rumors. We can't confirm any of this at the moment so for now take this for what it is a rumor.

Hey Guys,

There's talk now - and again, its just talk, nothing concrete - that some of us might be re-hired soonish to start on the new 'Predator' film. I haven't had any contact from the studio about it. Others apparently have.

Originally, they were going to follow AVP up with a fifth "Alien" film, one that would team Sigourney and Ridley again, but it didn't work out (for reasons I'm not privy to). 'Predator 3' (won't be called that), would be a brand new chapter in the series - and all those rumors about it starring The Rock or John Cena as Schwarzenegger's character, Dutch, aren't true. One bit of a interesting talk is that Sylvester Stallone might be being coaxed to do battle with the new "Predator". Guess they're thinking someone who can equal Arnie's statue? Not that he'd be playing the same character. I'd say that the plan is solely on FOXs end, and not Sly's end - who seems to have enough 'franchises' on the go.

Anyway, keep you posted - just wanted to reassure you that AVP2 is looking good.

Genetically enhanced killer/supersoldier gone awry

I mean, far be it from me to use this forum to be critical of one Harold Jay Knowles, but I think this is one instance where his friendship with Sly is putting a bit of sparkle dust in front of his better judgement. I seriously doubt that any other film with this premise would get a pass from him. I mean, I know he's been quite honest in the past with films made by people he's close to, but I can't shake that feeling that that's what's happening this time. A simple look at the premise of the whole rotten thing and you could probably shake a thousand similar films out of the rotten direct to video tree with a light push. Yes, I know Rambo killing X number of enemies in the second, third, and fourth installments requires a suspension of disbelief akin to hanging oneself with barbed wire, but this idea is what they had in mind I think for the phrase 'jumping the shark'.

This is a terrible idea and while I'm open to being wrong(and quite frankly what're the odds of that since I'm always right) this is not what we need from Sly Stallone right now. Seriously. Rocky and Rambo pulled you out of the direct to video slums, sir. Do not let this silly idea throw you right back into it.

Most definitely. I think that people are thinking a little too sci-fi with all of this. I think it will be a highlly trained killer on the loose. Think of John Rambo in the Tommy Lee Jones role in The Hunted. As the hunt goes on, Rambo must fight his own inner demons along with his adversary. That's sort of what I'm picturing.
