and yet you're unable to hold a real discussion about movies and just revert to plastering dumb pics with a pre-adolescent mentality, go figure

There were 40 minutes of such footage in 2008's "The Dark Knight"—which set box-office records in its opening weekend. IMAX's summer slate also includes potential blockbusters "The Avengers," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Men in Black 3," Tim Burton's gothic comedy "Dark Shadows," and Ridley Scott's 3-D "Prometheus." Mr. Nolan's film was the only one shot using IMAX cameras; the others were converted using IMAX's technology.

The Hong Kong sequence in DARK KNIGHT did look super nice. Apparently the Imax camera is super loud, so it's not good for filming scenes of dialogue. They shot some talking scenes in DARK KNIGHT with the Imax camera, but had to have the actors dub in their voices later because the audio from the actual shoot just sounded like a helicopter landing.

Apart from the new Batman, you get that this is just a list of films that will be screening in Imax, right? Any film can be converted to Imax, even HD tv if the resizing is done correctly.

do you ever post in a thread with something relevant to say?
I guess someone pointing out that there is a difference between a movie shot in IMAX being shown in IMAX and one shot conventionally shown in IMAX is just over your head. guess all that quantum mechanics gets in the way of you comprehending it.![]()
meanwhile, back to discussing the movie at hand with grown-ups........I think I would be more optimistic of the final result if Jackson was shooting "The Hobbit" with IMAX cameras instead of in 3D....though I wonder, would it be possible to shoot 48fps in IMAX? it is really too bad that drive-in theatres are usually run on a shoe-string budget so they don't have the latest projection tech, I would pay a premium to see movies shot in IMAX shown on a drive-in screen, the atmosphere of a drive-in can't be duplicated indoors no matter how big the screen is

Spandau Belly wrote:Ribbons is correct. The information I originally posted did mention the difference between movies shot with an Imax camera versus movies converted to Imax afterwards. Tapehead seemed to miss this and Ironic pointed it out. Peven didn't seem to understand any of this; and like usual, he made attacks that were personal, incorrect, and directed at the wrong person. Can we ban Peven already?

tapehead wrote:Shooting for IMAX on film with 65mm film horizontally achieves a certain effect when projected digitally - it looks really good, but I don't think it's a gold standard. You also have to consider that Prometheus is shot at 5K digitally in 3D (on Red Epic) - it's going to look amazing in IMAX, and the same goes for Spidey (and The Hobbit, and many others to come).

in other news, did it seem that bane's voice had been changed? he was easy to hear this time.

I have the same problem with his second line. What the hell is the last word he says?

There's been a few stills of her in suit out there for a while now. My guess from watching that is that she's going to do the "I'm in it for myself/you're a fool Batman" to the "he's so dreamy/maybe he's right" to ultimately "I'm abandoning him/only to show up at the end and play a pivotal role in helping him defeat Bane" kinda thing.
