have you seen Rogue One???
sure, no tits and ass, but it had an edge, and it killed off all everyone. plus, that last scene with Darth Vader was downright fucking brutal. Why is it such a stretch to think that the GoT bunch can't mine that same tonality and maybe even push it a little further?

Yeah, these guys will do just fine.

they also both have characters of mysterious and surprising parentage.
and major characters who don't realize they are related to each other.
just imagine how the Luke/Leia kiss on Hoth would have turned out if the GoT guys had written it.
by the time of ROTJ, they'd be full-on Jaime/Cersei, with a bunch of rotten jedi kids who would've made Kylo Ren look like a choirboy by comparison.

No... That's how George Tolkien the novel writer would have written it. Those screenplay goons just copied what he wrote. They have no minds of their own.
Like you, evidently.

Yeah there may be light speed in Star Wars but duh you dumb fucks, Star Wars don't happen on just one planet - IT HAPPENS ALL OVER THE FUCKING GALAXY!!!!
So even WITH light speed it's STILL gonna take a huge amount of time for characters to travel to each other. AS THEY HAVE TO FLY THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF MILES!!!!
It's not about distance to get to a place - it's about TIME to get to a place! Even with light speed it still is gonna take them a helluva long time to reach certain places!

NOT the same place as Coruscant, now, is it? and what about in AotC when he leads the clone army into battle aboard a star warchopper on that red Mars-like planet with the bug people?? huh? huh? and what about the whorehouses in Mos Eisley on Tatooine where Yoda was known to speak softly but wield a big stick? that randy little frog got around alright

So with that heartbreaking thought in mind, I hope the GoT guys go back to the beginning of when The Force users/manipulators begin to rise. Leading to the Jedi & Sith in a cinematic, canonical way.

Peven wrote:huh?? was GoT "their trilogy"? nope. they had an active reading public to contend with while they were translating the books to screen. this is not the case here. did you not read the press release? KOTR most definitely IS the GoT guys' trilogy. outside a few hardcore SW fans and gamers no one knows or gives two shits about KOTR among the moviegoing public. it is THEIRS and if you think they are going to be constrained by a couple video games or pulp knock off books after adapting novels from a best selling author to fit what they want then I think you fail to understand what they are about. compared to the total hack job that Lucas did with the prequels I feel comfortable that these guys will create a very engaging, watchable story, though not one that is very deep or meaningful. speaking of which, fans really have no business getting all proprietary with this shit. SW is one of the most whored out, bastardized properties ever. pretending that there is any fidelity to speak of with the "canon" requires an almost childlike naivety. starting with ESB the franchise became more of a toy/game/product commercial, ala Transformers, than a cinematic endeavor. they have made much more $$$ from retail licensing than the movies have.
the one true cinematic entry of the franchise that wasn't geared toward selling toys, Rogue One, was easily the best imo and yet among the least popular. that should be evidence enough for the GoT team to realize that being smart or mature with the material is NOT the way to go and they need to keep things as simplistic and cartoonish as possible to please the masses of SW fans and get the box office that is expected. the success and popularity of the last two SW movies confirms that. they aren't doing this for artistic purposes, they are doing it because SW is one of the biggest $$ properties out there and they want to cash in, and why not.
