Holy shit.
The original Robocop.

So am I crazy, or did that article not mention once the fact that there was already a RoboCop reboot a few years ago? I mean I know we'd all like to forget the newer one, but it does exist.

I forgot it immediately after watching it. Honestly, I don't even remember if I enjoyed it or not!

It was kind of a bummer. Competently filmed but completely devoid of substance. They tried to sneak some of the satire from the original franchise in with a couple of cute remarks about how people are bored of Robocops and want a gritty reboot or something, but Robocop 2 already did that.

it was a totally soulless, empty, forgettable experience.

I LOVE "District 9" and liked parts of "Elysium" and "Chappie" but Neil needs to work more on story structure and plot and try less to beat us over the head with his message if he wants to keep making big movies. if he can back off with the preachiness he has shown he can tell a great story, let's hope he finds the right balance with Robocop, I do think it is a good property for him to get his mojo back because of the social satire in the first movie which gives him some room to work with in making a movie true to the original's sensibility while putting some of his own voice into it.
