I suggest changing the poll options. Even you exceed the maximum and it's your poll! I have about 1100, at least 200 of which I have yet to watch, or have forgotten about. I shudder at the thought of how many Harry must have.

Why aren't there more options in the poll? At least a "100+" or something.

I own 121 DVDs, not counting extra DVDs in box sets (like Star Wars, Superman, etc.). It probably all balances out with the TV DVD sets I own, so I guess that's a good number.

Hey has anyone got any info on how the new formats that are currently beeing brewed up, Blu Ray(?) and another I think it is.... are going to be implemented? And why? I heard they are several years away...

Do you guys think it will be another complete revoloution, as DVD was to VHS?

I'm assuming that when it comes to them beeing used for movies, it will be to cater for the emerging HD market, right? I don't think it's a big deal for movie fans to have things on multiple disks... so I can't imagine that being the main selling point...

I count DVD box sets as one but I've put all my Whedon TV stuff into a folder and for some reason count all those dvds as singels. Soo whatever you think and I tried to edit it but the rule is after somone puts a vote up you can't change the poll. At first I did have a 100+ but I had to do something with the options before hand and it left me with what I have up there.

I've got about four hundred DVD's, I managed to stop myself from buying too many DVD's about 2 years ago, It's is silly you will never get your moneys worth buying willy nilly, I own too many films I've never watched.

It can easily become an unhealthy addiction, save the money for better things if you can.

What about box collections like SW,BTTF or TV shows where they only come as a set? Are you guys counting them as one, or each movie/disc in the set? Kubrick is different cuz you can buy all of 'em seperate, therefore I count each film. But it gets alittle ify on shows & stuff like the Friday the 13th collection, where there's two films per disc, and each disc is in those sliver-thin cases that could never be sold individually. Eight movies on four discs in one package...how do you count that shit? And do you count the Bonus disk in SW or Indy? For me it's the difference between slightly vs. well over 100.

Somewhere between 800 and 900 last time I checked. I try not to count them too often as it causes hyperventilation and anxiety.
Thinking about how many VHS tapes I have makes me want to go and lie down for a few hours.

If I could afford 1000+ I'd own 1000+. Alas, I just stopped being a poor university student a few months ago; now I'm a poor university graduate, and in a year I'll go back to being a poor university student again. . .

As of now I've got about 65 DVDs and maybe 40 videos, though I'm expecting a parcel from Canada with another 10 or 15 DVDs for Christmas any day now. And I had about 60 DVDs stolen a couple of years ago. I swear to god, if I ever find the fella whut done it . . . I'll probably run in circles flailing my arms and screaming like a school girl, or maybe do something involving the fetile position and weeping. But, hey, who knows? I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. Right now I'm going for a tear-up with the boys.

(On reflection, if I cut out the alcohol I probably could afford 1000+ DVDs. . .)

Got about 190 DVDs (JUST miss out on that higher bracket) from all genres and a few hundred videos from the olden days. Some of my DVDs I will sell soon though due to heavy-duty embarrassment about having Armageddon (even if it DID come free with my player).

It sucks actually because I spend longer choosing a dvd to watch than I do watching the movie, and it usually ends up being X2 anyway. There's something about that movie that's just really rewatchable, I dunno. Good for when you're blobbing and can't think.

I want Harry to answer this one. Whenever I read his monthly DVD column and try to picture what's actually sitting on his shelf... I get a bit frightened. I answered 25-50, by the way, but I'm now realizing that's a flat-out lie... lot's of stuff I didn't think of. 50-100 sounds better... I try to keep my collection down to essential stuff that I know I'll rewatch.

hmm about 340-350.. about half of it is anime and tv shows though.. anime eats through the shelf space coz you gotta get 6-8 seperate purchases just for one series

I'll never watch half the majority of stuff i own more than once though on DVD though.. I like to keep em on hand for if friends come round and I want to share the wealth of quality entertainment.. except that i don't really like having friends, let alone letting them come round to visit

.. and yet i still keep on buying

I want to say Harry mentioned at one time owning in the neighborhood of 1500 or so...don't quote me though.

Last time I actually counted, it was over 500...probably hit 600 in a couple of months. I know I have at least 60 or 70 titles I haven't watched.

1. I know of people around the 1000 mark. I reckon a ballpark for many is about 50-100.

2. Yes - http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/DaveDubya

DVDProfiler is used by quite a few people, it's easy to use and is functional.

3. Ebay or local papers.

I...I only have the bare essentials left, as I've pruned them and pruned them each time I move because I hate having to move all my stuff. All that is left are Buffy Seasons 1-7. The Evil Dead Trilogy. The 2 POTC movies, will get the 3rd soon. The SW movies. And all the JAWS movies. lol.
