Shatner has his own DVD club?!

Postby Tyrone_Shoelaces on Wed Dec 28, 2005 3:07 pm

Read about it here, check it out here. If nothing else you can get a free copy of Ginger Snaps. I must admit that its kinda tempting but I'm not sure about dropping that much at once for what could be Sci Fi Channel Original Greatest Hits. If anybody goes for it let me know what you get.

Looking over the site I had to laugh when the link to the privacy policy says, "William Shatner respects your Privacy."

Damn, they misspelt it.

I told them to say, "William Shatner INSPECTS your Privacy".

Putzes.

Hmmm. Both Close Your Eyes (Doctor Sleep) and Immortel Ad Vitam as upcoming movies? Interesting choices...

Well, obviously Shatner is the coolest living person on earth (at least since "Has been") and anything coming from him must be fantastic because of the name Shatner alone ( I imagine Shatner standing next to the production line of the DVDs touching each of them with his godly hand to pass on some of his mighty karma).

But honestly, the selection of films is pretty crappy. Ginger Snaps struck me as a relatively uninteresting movie, and Immortel was god damn boring. The other ones I don't know, but does "developed and commissioned as a Sci-Fi Channel Original Picture" seem like a seal of quality to you?

The iconic Captain Kirk has watched literally thousands of Sci-Fi, Horror, and Fantasy films and has selected his personal favorites for you.

For me? He shouldn't have, I have watched literally thousands as well, and I didn't do it for William Shatner... I feel terrible...

I actually enjoyed Ginger Snaps, and felt that Doctor Sleep was as great as a classic Argento movie.
And Immortel Ad Vitam was almost brilliant. Loved the story and the character, only bad thing was the god-awful cgi.

But all the Sci-Fi Channel movies I've seen haven't been that great. So, maybe Shatner's selection isn't so good.
Saw King of Ants on the list and that is one crappy movie.

NO sir - how dare YOU accuse ME of sarcasm?? My love for the one true Kirk is infinite.

And I hereby claim the "dvd touching for karma transmission" idea to be the complete truth without even a bit of sarcasm:

Why is the page layout for his site vomit green? Honestly, the design looks like a porn site or something... I would NEVER give these people my money.

Man - its always good to see Shatner getting love :D

For all you fans of the best Toupe-Corset combination to grace our screen I highly recommend a hilarous DVD called FREE ENTERPRISE.

If you love film, let alone Shatner, trust me - this flick is priceless. It follows the adventures of two thirty-something geeks (one played by Will of WILL & GRACE fame - Eric McCormack), lost in life. Its one of their birthdays and they plan to assemble the geeks because Star Trek II is being shown at their local cinema...but they get into all kinds of familiar territory along the way...including a chance encounter with Shatner himself...who sends himself up a complete treat...very knowing and very self-deprecating.

Highlights include Kirk making a mess of his on-screen persona by utterly failing to charm a lady....another group of lads acknowledging him for TJ Hooker and not Trek.......one of the geeks trying to get away with splitting up with his girlfriend using only Star Wars quotes....Shatner putting on his musical version of Julius Caesar, called "No Tears for Caesar". Lasts for over four hours and Shatner plays all the roles.....dudes, I could go on but do see it if you can....

A sequel is planned as well.... :D
