Strange movies, these are!

I love those, especially "Over the Rainbow" at the end of the second film. Even if it is anachronistic.

is it the 90's remake with Tony Todd? It's a great reamke, very faithful and with Romero's blessing I believe. First NotLD I saw was that one on the old Monster Vision on TNT with Joe Bob Briggs

I watched the first half last night, but I'd just watched Mel dole out the harshness in HAMLET and I was tired so I went to bed. I'll have to finish it tonight after work.

That's a really fucking good haul there.

I've been watching Omega Man regularly since childhood.

THE OMEGA MAN was entertaining, but I'm not sure I'm on board with the music. It was just downright inappropriate at times. Nude Rosalind Cash I can get behind.

I would argue that it is, in fact, better than the original. Certainly better acted and possibly better directed.

I wouldn't argue it, I think Tony Todd really does some amazing stuff in it

Comedy? I thought it was a documentary. Americans, made of wood, saving the world from, uh, an insect.

Picked up district 9 on blu ray, which came with an additional DVD copy. A lot more useful than the digital copies that many are including.

I think I enjoy that movie more with each viewing. Now im just waiting for MOON. The damn thing hasnt even had a cinema release over here yet. grrrrrrr.

IMO, those digital copies are a bit of a joke. I don't know why anyone would watch a movie on a cell phone or especially an iPod. I suppose having a copy for your laptop might be nice, since laptops don't have bluray drives yet.

But on the positive side the movie is awesome

Went to Best Buy to pick up WERE THE WILDS THINGS ARE on Blu-ray. It was sold out. I was pissed.

To make up for it, I bought:

Crisis on Two Earths (Blu-ray)
New Frontier (Blu-ray)
Iron Man (Blu-ray)

It will be a comic book Friday at my apartment tonight!

I love dropping into Big Lots once in a while. For as shitty as that store is, I never leave disappointed.

In rummaging through their DVD's today I got the following:

Next ($5)

Casshern ($3)

SciFi Boys ($3)

Casshern, though I own a region 0, normally runs at least $22 bucks..

They also had all 3 M:I movies for under $10

Starship Troopers Blu Ray
Bram Stoker's Dracula Blu Ray
Troy: Director's Cut Blu Ray

I have NO idea why I bought Troy... sucked then, still sucks now... but the battles are pretty cool.

Troy doesn't suck. It's mildly disappointing at worst. It kind of just goes through the motions, but I appreciate the skill with which it was put together and the cast does a good job. It's a medium-level sword-and-sandal movie that beats hell out of most of Ray Harryhausen's stuff, but doesn't come up to the level of Gladiator. Take it as it is, and it's pretty enjoyable.

Picked up "Kingdom of Heaven" directors cut. I havent really fancied it, but it seems to have been mentioned a lot round here lately, so I thought why the hell not?

I really know very little about it (apart from it being set in the crusades), and looking forward to popping the blu ray in. So I will blame you lot if its rubbish.

I have borrowed untouchables on blu ray from a mate too, and it has been donkeys years since I watched that. Looking forward to watching it with adult eyes, rather than being around 12 or something when I last seen it. Can you believe its 23 years old? Jebus.

While picking up DVD-Rs at Kmart I saw a bare-bones edition of Se7en (pronounced "Se-seven-en) for five bucks. J has the super deluxe edition bound up in a facsimile of John Doe's notebooks, but I'm okay with just the amazingly depressing movie.

So, as I'm sure you guys know - Blockbusters all across the country are closing, and as a result they're selling everything (even the gumball machines...)

With that being said, I went crazy on some Pre-Viewed Blu Rays this weekend:

Zodiac: Director's Cut
The Reader
The Strangers
Crank
Crank 2
Ninja Assassin
Monster House
Donnie Darko
Hell Ride

I'd highly suggest you guys check it out - Blu Rays are anywhere from 6.99 to 16.99
