I've not heard great things about the new cut of Warriors but at that price it's hard to say no, plus I love a bit of old school Walter Hill.

I'd heard that the Warriors re-release was all tarted up, cartoonish was the word. Let me know how that works out. Always liked the original.
And not entirely sure what Jack meant by "cartoonish"

I bught the "Forbidden Planet" Limited Collectors Edition, that Moriarty praised a few weeks ago. Believe it or not, but until this morning, I didn't know that it has been released in Germany!
39,99 €, if anyone cares.

Oh, and I try to buy it again. It's a great x-mas presents for my best friend! (Now I still need something for his wife, dammit...)

SCOOP for my super Woody Allen fan friend. He has the whole collection - even the crap- and this should make his holiday. Plus, he'll have to let me watch it!

THE GAME OF THEIR LIVES (renamed THE MIRACLE MATCH for DVD) - I'll pop this soccer (football) movie in for family viewing. It describes the true story of the 1950's World Cup soccer match where a ragtag team of Americans cobbled together just weeks before the match, beat England's finest team in a Rocky-like scenario. HooRah!

ME, YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW.

This is a truly great independent film, didn't get that big of release, but did well on the festival circuit.

If you have not seen it, I truly suggest giving it a watch.

bastard-robo; sweet-ass sig gif

Recently grabbed:

BlackStar - complete series - much like the PoTA animated series, not a whole lot of work went into the DVD production; no surround, no extras, pretty much a straight VHS -> DVD transfer

PoTC 2 - Did not see it the theater, loved it, been re-watching it. Sold on the pirates thing now. First movie really did not grab me by the dick.

Quest For Fire - a trifecta of Perlman references for me today on the zone

School of Rock - very very funny

Good Night and Good Luck - still have not watched it

Windy City Heat - 'yay' then 'meh'. Repeat for two hours.

SuperJesus Returns - fuck yeah!

Three Burials of...um, not watched yet.
He can't' love you back...

Somehow Wally-Mart got a hold of a bunch of the Best Buy exclusive sets of the '33 King Kong with the extra swag and Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young. For about half of what Best Buy is charging. I couldn't pass it up. I should have, but I couldn't.

I think I may've mentioned this before but for all UK zoners there's one hell of a bargain at HMV.

A box set of 5 Pedro Almodovar movies (Bad Education, Talk To Her, All About My Mother, Live Flesh, Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down) now on sale for £19.99 or order online for £15.99.

Fantastic bargain.

I now own seasons 1 through 5 of Buffy, and its been great revisiting these shows, uncovering all the nice little touches here & there.

First example that springs to mind is in Becoming ( parts 1 & 2)....Darla & Buffy both say the same thing to Angel: Darla, just before she turns Angel, and Buffy just before she sends him to Hell -

"Close your eyes...."

Still wish Buffy had ended in Season Five - the last shot of the headstone was just so very perfect.

Doesn't keep me from getting geeked over Season 8!

Arrested Developmet Season 1- Why did they take this off the air?

Going back this weekend to get the IFC Greg the Bunny DVD.

I have all of these! Except the collectors Dune, but I have that movie... lemme know what you think.

Today I picked up at Woolworths -

The Chronicles of Riddick for two quid. I've already got the R1 release but wanted the R2 for my xbox, and it was two quid to boot! Good sale! Anyhow, I'm a big fan of this film... it just TRIES so much harder to please than most sci fi, even if it is a mish mash. There's just too many good scenes and the sfx, bar maybe a few places, are uniformly excellent.

Assault on Precinct 13 remake for three quid. What can I say? I really enjoy this film. It's gritty, well made, just... well, pretty good for what it is. It's not a patch in terms of the original's menace... but it does what it does really well and for three quid I'm not complaining.

Flight Of The Navigator for three quid too. Awesome kids movie. Bad transfer. But for the price I got it I can't complain, love it too much! Compliance!

All good scores, AH!

As much shit as people give Riddick I still think it's a pretty decent movie, and most importantly, it's fun!
I never thought the story would go in that direction from Pitch Black.
They really fleshed out the world that Riddick lives in. It's definitely one of those movies that I've got a soft spot for.

Plus, they use dead people to communicate over the vast expanses of space. How can you go wrong with that!
