Really enjoyed Brick. It was the film that made me realise that my favorite genre is Neo-Noir. I've been picking up titles from this category for weeks now. I've also started reading Raymond Chandler & Dashiell Hammett.

Just arrived:

L. A. Confidential
Miller's Crossing

- BAD SANTA: UNSEEN
- SWORDFISH
- OPEN RANGE
- BOTTLE ROCKET
- THE SANTA CLAUSE (shaddap)
- JFK
- HOT SHOTS

Came to around 20 quid altogether.

The fact I LOVE Christmas movies is reason enough for buying SANTA CLAUSE. But still I hated CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS. Odd.

Hey everyone, by the way.

Exactemente! I really should buy more classics myself, but there's only so much love to go around... I need to think about getting hold of more Cary Grant DVD's, more Hitchcock... buy the whole Audrey Hepburn collection again to go with my poster... :D

Left work early yesterday, picked up Hellboy - Sword of Storms and The Invincible Iron Man -

Both are pretty damned good; great animation, good stories, and fucking magical sound engineering.

Iron Man is a terrific origin tale, the animation certainly a cut above the Ultimate Avengers.

Hellboy is a loose collection of one-offs combined with new material. Terrific for the Mignola fan, many other HB material is referenced throughout the movie, and the bonus features has a great little feature on the creation of the HB character; lots of early concept stuff and great analysis of Mignola's use of color and overall style.

No buyer’s remorse on this at all

Both get 8 thumbs up on the unikrunk scale of goodness.

Interesting, eh? I was a disappointed inna them a both, eh? I felt a the HB:SOS was a just a the rehash of a the Ninja Scroll, anna that a the script of a the Iron-Man, she was a pretty terrible, eh? I agree that a the animation onna the Iron-Man, she was a better than a the Ultimate Avengers, but a the story, she was a practically inna'comprehensible to a the old man. Anna the origin? Holy crappa they brush a right over a the fatal heart problem, eh? Anna it hadda nothing to do with a the armor... anna Tony was uppa anna around inna what a seem like a the day or two, no?

The last DVD('s) you bought

Postby bastard_robo on Thu Feb 08, 2007 5:13 pm

Target has a sale going on right now and they had a bunch of new dvd's at $10 (they ususally do this like once a month) So I spent my last X-Mas Gift card last night and bought

Kill Bill vol. 1 (had 2 but never pt. 1)
The 40 year old virgin (my bro took back his Full screen copy, but i now have wide screen)
The Punisher Ext. Cut (this and X3 were the only marvel movies that i dont own, hopefully the ext cut is a little better than the theatrical)

Want to know if anyone bought Tideland or Angel-A and what they thought of the DVD's? I'm thinking of buying both... not seen either movie, but methinks I'll love 'em. I'm like that with some directors.

Departed should be winging its way to me soon too.

The Descent
Pennies From Heaven (the Steve Martin one)
The Hitch-Hiker
He Walked By Night

The last two are Alpha Video cheapies I got for $2. I'm a big fan of Alpha Video. All their stuff is public domain and most of it is shlocky crap, but you can find some gems if know what you're looking at. The prints are usually watchable to good. They're the only company to release the German film The Head. After I found that I was hooked.
