"The Simspons" Season 6

Postby Keepcoolbutcare on Sat Aug 13, 2005 2:43 pm

Comes out on Tuesday.

From "Bart of Darkness" to "Who Shot Mr. Burns p.I" yet another reason why this show will always be my favorite half hour animated comedy of all time.

Some might say that season 5 was the season the Simpsons leapt the dorsal fin but I thought that occurred later. Sure season 5 was when Homer got completely wacky, but with David Mirkin as show runner (and one funny mo-fo in the commentaries) seasons 5 & 6 still brought some major funny.

Season 5, the episode was written by Conan.

If you haven't seen it, watch it with the commentary on. Uproarious.

man, i buy so many tv dvd sets...

i would assume things started getting really good in season 3, then started to get weak in season six.

3-6, that would be the golden age, right?

hmm...

i just looked at an episode guide (apparently i wan't too lazy)...

man, i can't believe how long that show's been on, and i still watch it... but i watch it now in that sort of, "please be good, please be- oh that wasn't bad! that's kinda funny!"

it was 14 when it first aired, and i'm 30 now.

that's like, my whole adult life.

awesome show.

same here...

I had Seasons 1-8 on tape, most without commercials. Gave away/had stolen most ot them over the years. And since I'm sans TV, I just buy them when they come out.

3-6, that would be the golden age, right?

I'll agree with that.

Homer In Space is season 5 yeh? Love that episode.
We don't get the Simpsons in season form here so it's kinda hard to tell which is which. I always like Homer vs. New York but they won't show it here anymore.
What was the one where they bring back Prohibition? Awesome episode and it had my fave line ever

Marge- "Homer where are you going in the middle of the night

Homer "Oh Marge, I'm not going to lie to you"
The he just walks off.
Hahahaha

Just found this great book extract about The Simpsons. It's a great read but my favourite quote is:

"These are classic jokes so refracted through a cracked mirror they're almost Cubist."

Take a look here

What season is it when Homer works for the Super Villain and kills James Bond?

Oh and Bluebottle, did you really do a voice in the Simpsons or is Keepcool pulling my leg?

Season 8 there, Locke, on the Hank Scorpio episode where Homer helps Scorpio kill Bond. The best part was the ending when he ends up owning the Denver Broncos.

See they haven't totally lost it, some of the new ones were hilarious, which season did Homer end up with the pet Lobster Pinchy? that was one of the funniest, especially at the end after Homer had accidentally boiled him, and he was crying and enjoying the taste at the same time.

I'll admit that I don't really keep track of what guests do what voices, but I never knew that was Dave Thomas doing the voice of Rex Banner. "I'll get you Beer Baron" "No you won't!"

Disc 1 alone gives us...

Maude Flanders "I was at bible camp. I was learning how to be more judgemental."

Ralph "What's a diorama?" & "I bent my wookie!"

Homer "Everything's too damn expensive these days, look at this bible I just got for $15 bucks. And talk about a preachy book, everyone's a sinner."

Homer "AAAHHH! It's the rapture, quick get Bart out of the house!"

Sideshow Bob "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! No truth handler you! BAH, I deride your truth handling abilities!"

Willie "Puritan pukes." & "There's no Scotchtoberfest...YA USED ME SKINNER, YA USED ME!"

and on the deleted scenes for the "Shinning", a scene you just knew they had to of filmed yet weren't allowed to air, Bart's skateboarding around the hotel, comes across the twins Sheri and Terri, who say in a really disturbing cadence...

"Your Daddy's gonna kill you."
