X3 The Last Stand Now W/deleted Scenes

Postby Ju? on Sun Oct 08, 2006 1:51 am

After Watching the Deleted X3 Scenes, I have come to the conclusion that they held back on the final cut, so everyone should get off of Brett Rattner's back........

Ju?, I locked this originally, but hey, it's sunday, so I renamed it in the hope of attracting some responses! - Dog.

So what do the deleted scenes change or add to the movie?

How many are there? Is there more Angel?

I've heard some shit about some discs having 10 deleted scenes, while others actually having 20 something on them. Either way I'm refusing to buy this disc, as Ratner went and said before it even came out that there would be a more packed dvd soon with a big behind the scenes doc and more. So fuck FOX.

Heh, are these scenes integrated then?!?! Sheeet, that would be awesome! Does it bring more character exploration to the mutants? Does it make the film closer to the standard of the first 2? Does it explain how true Magneto's theory is, about the Government drawing first blood with the cure? Is there more Kitty Pryde? Yay!!

Darnit. I only went to the cheap priced Prince Charles Cinema in London to see this for the 3rd time last week, when it's just come out on DVD. I've already got my latest X fix, I need it's influence to make me think I'm Wolverine for as long as I possibly can, but I might just get this out this week with my Blockbuster 2 for 1 tickets before that deal runs out.

Its just some rostra shots with someone turning over the comic pages talking really fast to explain all the bits of the story that weren't covered in the film

I've come to the conclusion that this film is the opposite of Singer's films.

Fantastic action that shows up the scenes in X1 and X2 and also displays to us what these mutants can actually do. Although, everything else, from the storyline to the dialogue and at times even the acting are not even close to what they were in the first two films.
To read some original works by me, please ask, I need the feedback!

So, I finally sat down and watched all of the deleted scenes, and WHAT. THE. FUCK?! At least half of that shit should've been in the movie!!

The bit with Bobby and Colossus tag-teaming Phat (stupid name, but it works) during the final battle is EXACTLY the kind of shit the movie was missing!! And seeing Beast, Storm and Bobby greeting new students at the end had a really nice "...and onto the next chapter" kinda feel. There was some quality, quality stuff in there that shouldn't have been removed. Really poor choice to trim a movie that was already too short.

And the commentary by Ratner, Penn and Kinberg makes me want to take back every nice thing I ever said about Brett Ratner. The guy is just a simpleton who thinks anything not foregrounded is "subtle" and anything involving dialogue and character is "emotional." Seriously, listen to this commentary and tell me you don't want to punch the guy in the head.

I do have to say that watching it through this time made me start to consider where I'd go with the series from here, and there's definitely potential. X3 provided a few too many stumbling blocks for the larger story, but there's plenty of fertile ground to be explored.

That's funny. I would have thought he'd at least try to sound like he knows what he's doing.
That sums up why I think he's shit very succinctly though.

True. We haven't seen a Hawiian shirt clad Wolverine fight a bathing suit clad Omega Red yet.

I sense a complete restart of the franchise in ten years. And hopefully this time Fox won't endeavour to piss off the creative team, or the fans, and do the fucking thing properly from start to end without a half-assed mix of two great stories (Whedon's 'cure' and 'The Dark Phoenix' saga of Claremont.)

Fox won't restart the franchise. They see in nothing but dollar signs, and X3 had a pretty warm reception with the general public. X4 could be a new launching point for the series, but more as a "All New! All Different!" lineup change than a "those past three films never happened."

I'm quite literally sitting down with a pad of paper and mapping out where I'd go from here. I'm deciding who'd be on my team and who, if anyone, I'd add. The problem though is that there are ALREADY too many characters and that two thirds of them didn't have any character development in the last film.

But I think I have an angle that'd work nicely.

My mind is boggled by the logic of the previous post.

Anyway... once was enough for this shitty film. I'm still amazed they managed to castrate the franchise (for me) so thoroughly and completely. Especially Cyclops.

Never trust a fucking studio to understand the awesomeness of a character who keeps 99% of his feelings internal, and will only let them out into the open when forced.

What we need is a 12-part HBO miniseries with stories about 3 different teams happening at the same time. Like the comic books. With internal flashbacks and psychic projection sequences that fill at least 90 minutes of the total.

I have often thought that the only way Dark Phoenix could be done would be as a HBO miniseries. It's the only format that would have room for all the story details.

I hope no one finishes this pattern off, I have a feeling that it might open a portal to the Netherverse and that would obviously be bad.
