These updated effects are excellent, much more defined, yet still retaining that old school feel

These Klingons have just realised that they are in the shit - I love the fact photon torpedoes move in complete unison.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:39 pm

mark lenard pulling double duty.

nice.

this is when i really fell in love with the klingons.

that sounds terrible as i read it back.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:44 pm
by Brocktune
you know, i understand that the opening sequence with the klingons was added when this was released on video. im so glad they did.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:44 pm

So, unfortunately, Spock looks like lou ferrigno with that hair cut.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:45 pm

at one point, they had huge plans for sonak, as leonard nimoy didnt really want to come back.

I love the costumes, sets and model work on this movie - they really got it right, all still totally believable as the future.

Shit, Shatner is SO young. Looking good Kirk.

Space dock - trek had so many good ideas, brandon peterson must have been homaging in Ultimate Vision recently - I'd like to think so.

No. This isn't true. When I saw this as a kid the killing of the Klingons WAS the first scene of the film.

How many times have I gotta kick you foos up the arse in this place in the span of 5 EPIC minutes?!?!?!

this extended fly past/first view of the Enterprise is fantastic, you can really feel kirk's devotion to his ship - glad Wise reinstated it.

i still think that the enterprise from this film is one of the most amazing looking spacecraft ever designed. it really looks beautiful.

not as beautiful as shatner, but beautiful nonetheless.

Man, Decker is going to be pissed.

yeah, yeah - he's pissed

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:56 pm
by doglips
Why would he be sorry, decker? he's just taken back command of the greatest starship in the fleet.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:57 pm

This whole transporter malfunction sequence is great - Kirk's not afraid to get his hands dirty - the captain knows his shit

PostPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:57 pm

Oh, i forgot they die, LOL. At least he tried dammit!

I'm going to jump in for a moment with the blind commentary. Not sure if you're there yet, guessing not, but Bones + beard = godly. The man looks like the hippy tripster I always knew he was when he wasn't busy patching up redshirts. Or proclaiming them dead. I don't know why people hate it so much. I really envision him as a futuristic toker, the man loves Romulan ale for Christ's sake!

man, remind me to do a google image search, so i can find out exactly what persis khambata looks like with hair.

For the time - great effects, the time dilation effect on the crew ( or whatever it is, Adam ) is brilliant.

I love how they lit the spacecraft sets for this movie, so dull and moody. such a monochrome palate compared to the cloud.

Decker PWNS Kirk, a sad day.

It's very much Roddenberry's colour palette. He used it again for the Next Gen sets.
