Shame on you Mori, DigitalBits, CHUD etc. etc. I didn't even know this came out on the 11th until I just happened to be doing an "H.P. Lovecraft" search on Amazon. Just bought and watched it yesterday....

this DVD rocks!

(Starring Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ken Foree
Directed by Stuart Gordon)

1 Stuart Gordon's follow-up to Re-Animator

2 Starring Jeffery Colms (Re-Animator & The Frightners) Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator) and Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead)

3 H.P. Lovecraft

4 First time ever on DVD....which is probably why you've never heard of it.

5 Great gory 80's movie with several shots that the ratings-board had cut from the film....now fully restored!

6 Nice commentary & extras. And the picture quality is pretty sharp as well

Here's a review

Btw It's amazing what you can find at construction-sites

The Dino, he always a like a that scene from a that picture, eh? The reaction of a the doctor, she was a so underplayed, no? No screams, no over-the-top hysterics, eh? One of a the better films of a the genre, inna my opinion...

In the 80's there was a big trend to do Lovecraft films with as much prosthetics and gore as possible. I think I have better memories of this film than what it was. I remember it being a little camp.

yeah, this movie is pretty out there. it's about as authentic to lovecraft as re-animator was, but without the humour of that film. re-animator is a born classic, this is kind of like that film's afterbirth. the cast is the best thing about it, combs, crampton and foree are all fun in the film, but the story is non-sensical, the gore and fx are pretty weak, and it's definitely more campy than scary. maybe fun to watch on a weekend night with friends if you're all under the influence of some kind of chemicals though.

"Don't you understand? This is the greatest discovery since van Leeuwenhoek first looked through a microscope and saw an amoeba!"
"Yeah, but he wasn't down there with the amoebas!"

This marks the 4th Gordon film I would feel comfortable enough to discuss...and the 4th Gordon film I've really enjoyed.

While I greatly enjoyed it, I would love to see a re-jiggerbootimagining of the script by Cronenberg, what with the pineal gland penis-eye and sexual inadequacy and s & m and psychology and new flesh and blood and gore and general what the fuckness.
