How will internet distribution change special features?

For the last few months i've been thinking about what happens to extras / special features / additional commentary / subtitles with new media's wave rocking our way.

If we're downloading a movie onto an ipod, how will we be getting those features than we love, adore, probably don't use, but still like to have.

They probably won't be offered as a continued enticement to purchase hard copy on some media.

Well I took part in a BluRay technology seminar today and they are planning on using the internet to offer more special features type offerings that will add more interactive elements. From the seminar it should be really cool.

Thats at least for this generation, but Id like to think when the US gets better bandwidth and can download tons of data (hopefully skipping over this time warner download cap stuff thats going down) this trend will continue.
