region coding for directors cut of Watchmen ?

I wasted my money buying the U.K. Blu-ray version of the Watchmen but what I really wanted was the directors cut which is only available in the good old U.S.of A.
One British film mag said that the American version is region 0, which I would be able to play on my PS3 (region 2). However America is usually region 1, so can anybody confirm which region it is .

Many Thanks,
Gerry77.

1. The UK version has the Director's Cut, it's just just being called the "Special Edition" here.
2. When have you ever heard of the main studios releasing Region 0 discs?
3. Blu-ray is rubs.

Also BluRay regions are lettered not numbered.

Regions for the Blu-ray standard:
A: The Americas, and their dependencies, East Asia (except Mainland China and Mongolia), Southeast Asia.
B: Africa, Southwest Asia, Europe (except Russia), Oceania, and their dependencies.
C: Central Asia, East Asia (Mainland China and Mongolia

I can't remember ... if we throw him in the water and he floats, does that mean he is or isn't a spambot?

Hi,

1.) Do you know that for sure? According to http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=14775, the UK Blu-ray contains only the theatrical version.
2.) Except for Disney and Fox (incl. MGM), most Blu-rays from the other big studios are region-code free, see http://bluray.liesinc.net/.
3.) ?

1. I was sure. But now, not so much. The pre-release publicity suggested they were the same. Turns out they weren't. I returned my DVD "special edition" and wrote a nasty letter to the distributors.
2. Blu-ray is rubs.
3. See above.

I'm sure there'll be an R2 release for the director's cut soon - but hopefully the Ultimate Edition will get one too!

R2 Director's Cut is set for 30th November.

And it looks to be Blu-Ray only, the farkers. And it's about a month before the Ultimate Edition looks like it'll be out.

....triple dipping on Blu-Ray already & dumping DVD customers...great value. And they wonder why people start downloading pirate copies.

Also, you cannot rent the Director's on either Netflix or Blockbuster in the US. You can only buy it.

Buy it. Watch it. Scratch the disc. Return it for refund.

Most places in the USA, opened DVDs cannot be returned, only exchanged for the same item if damaged. It doesn't matter if you say you want something else; you're screwed.

The five-disc set is in this month's Previews. The extended edition, or whatever they're calling it, includes "Tales of the Black Freighter" interpolated. Price is about $55. That's much cheaper than I expected, but I'm certainly not going to pop for it. I'm half-stunned that I popped for the director's cut. I was so underwhelmed by the DVD experience that I haven't even watched the special features. That's pretty unusual for me.

Here, we can exchange for same, exchange for equal value, exchange for refund.

Consumer rights, sorted.
