That Gene Simmons thing sucked. He is such a blatant marketing machine that I just get mad when I see him.

The INXS Rock Star grew on me. And I HATE the guy who one it.

I'm hoping that Diamond Dave auditions to be the singer of Van Halen on the show. It would be SCHWEET.

When is Dino getting a reality show, where a bunch of film students are put through various tests until the winner gets to make a movie with the legend. Like the apprentice only with the catchphrase, 'you're gone, you god damn putzes"...
The winner learns how to do it old school...

Do film students get kicked off for wanting to make original films instead of remakes?

No they get to be assistant kraft food table assistants on the all-musical sequel-prequel-trequel Hannibal movie...

In their day, Van Halen was an awesome band, and I say this as a non-fan.

Most of us probably like some ancient has beens. I'd bet all of us have at least one group among our favorites that, without the right mix of people, would have gone down long, long ago. The Doors almost went out with Iggy Pop, circa '72/73, before Iggy was known. It's a weird world.

And, speaking of has beens, The Spin Doctors are releasing their first album in six years. Guess the jam band circuit doesn't make you cream of the crop for record companies.

Oh, and DeNiro's eyes are starting to scare me.

as a musician, and a fan of inxs BEFORE "Kick", i was enraged week after week watching "Rock Star: INXS". not only was it a shame to see a once good band fall to the lowest low that is shilling for a cbs reality show to find a new frontman. but in addition, i wish death upon brooke burke (post coitus of course). i swore if i had to listen to her call one more of the douchebags on that show a "rocker", that i was going to drive up to the cbs studios and kick her fucking teeth in myself. i didnt of course, but i can alway dream right? and this terrible, outdated, cliched, played out, g@y concept of what a "rock star" is or should be that was retained by every contestant on that show is 50% of whats wrong with music today. the other 50 percent, are the mtv kids. oh yeah, im stoked to hear all of you awesome rockers put your half assed stamp on some dusty old standard that was already played out when they did it originally. you all look so good. make sure your hair and makeup is right, make sure you've got your stage sneer on, so all the ladies will swoon. maybe if these fuckers oh, im sorry "rockers" were as concerned with music, as they were with how good they look, and how famous the band they front is, and how rich they could get, they would probably all be in working, gigging bands. instead of being the losers who werent good enough for inxs.

I was not convinced of Van Halen's power until I heard Aztec Camera perform an acoustic version of "Jump." Taking away the ear-bleeding guitar and Roth's vocal acrobatics stripped the song down to its roots, which turned out to be solid.

YMMV, of course.

That is my "Lou Reed's love child" pic, taken in 1983. During a bipolar collapse I had stopped eating much and dropped 30 pounds from my normal weight, in a hurry. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe, so I went in for lots of jeans and tight t-shirts. Then I ditched my glasses for contacts and put on some cheap shades.

I looked great, but I was horribly sick, physically and emotionally. Makes a great sig, though. The avatar is me in 1985. I always though the negative made me look like a lion.

Now I'm horribly f@t (not even close to H@arry territory; still, pretty studly) but, as Middle-Aged Man said, "I'm working on it!"
