That’s Dean Cain from the Lois and Clark TV series and Helen Slater from the Supergirl movie, playing Kara’s foster parents. This is a symbolic ‘passing of the torch’ akin to John Wesley-Shipp playing Henry Allen — Barry’s father — in The Flash since he played Barry in the original series from the 90’s.

Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season. The role is currently being cast.

The casting will bring Superman back to The CW following the WB Network's former Tom Welling drama Smallville.

The only hope for this show is if Tom Welling show's up and it becomes the Superman show with Supergirl.

The season was so tedious with horrid teen angst that it was just silly.

I was hoping for Supergirl to be a more mature show than what we got.

Under the pact — Adler’s first overall agreement — she will develop new projects for CBS Studios and also will consult on the studio’s new CW drama series Dynasty, a reboot of the hit primetime soap. While she is leaving Supergirl full-time, Adler will remain involved in the show as executive consultant.

Adler co-created Supergirl, based on the DC characters, alongside Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. She served as an executive producer/co-showrunner with Kreisberg on the series for its first two seasons, one on CBS and one on the CW.

Adler previously co-created and executive produced with Ryan Murphy the NBC comedy series The New Normal and worked on such series as Glee, Chuck and Family Guy.

As an author, Adler published the book How to F*ck A Woman last year. She is repped by WME and attorney Jared Levine.
