What Are You Watching On TV?

The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

watching Survivor right now. they just integrated the 4 ethnically-based tribes into two big mixed tribes. things are starting to get somewhat interesting now, all sorts of alliance-forming and the dynamics of the ethnic groups is still in play, as evidenced by one guy who just told a chic he was plotting with, "if we get the Asians on our side we'll be in good shape". i actually think the idea to break contestants up into ethnic groups was an interesting experiment, and seeing it still playing out is revealing.

I had a surprise last night! A show I thoguth was gonna be shit and I didn't want to watch I thought had a lot of promise. I want to say it blew me away. But it didn't.

But it has the potential to if the programme makers realise what they've got their hands on!

The show is HEROES

Check it out...please! :-)

Best new shot of the season though is: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip :-)

Did anyone watch Showtimes new Sunday night drama called Dexter?

It's like a cross between CSI and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, I found it to be pretty compelling stuff, it's such a neat and original concept that seems to want to explore the concept to to the fullest, I doubt I'll give up on this show unless it becomes extremely tired.

Check it out.

I never watched Six Feet Under but he's brilliant here, really convincing as a hollow shell of a man who's entire life is a facade so he can continue in his murderous ways without suspicion.

Great show, I was a little wary about the voiceover, but I can see it's importance now. It seems a little skewed from reality too kind of a hyper reality in a way, especially the way some scenes are lit. Very very interesting and a superb central performance.

near the end of "Instinct", with Anthony Hopkins. an under-rated film, imo, with a pov, a message, that is sadly dismissed by too many. maybe its a little preachy, i know, but sometimes people need some preaching.

I'm watching Bad Boys on TBS.

This is the first Michael Bay movie I've seen besides for Armageddon 6 or so years ago, and holy shit, I didn't realize that people were being literal when they said that no camera shot in a Michael Bay movie lasts longer than 3 seconds. I don't know whether he's toned it down since then, but damn.

watching a show on A&E right now about the history of comics, with a variety of interviews with guys like Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, etc. mixed into the archive-type footage and narration. pretty interesting stuff.

they are up to the late 70's/early 80's now, with the next segment containing interview snippets with Frank Miller. they just showed a clip before going to commercial of Miller talking about how that time had been his opportunity to give Batman his balls back.

There was a documentry on the BBC on Friday night about Van Gogh, something called Power Of Art and it was none other than Andy Serkis who played him in brief segments.. and I have to say he was quite outstanding, really capturing the poor, tortured man in all his genius and failing. It was a very moving performance, infact - and a nice documentry, too, about this incredible painter.

Well, for the past 2 weeks ABC has pulled THE NINE off their schedule and put those dumb 20/20 specials on instead. Even TV Guide was caught with their pants down as they have listed the episodes as airing in their usual time slot.

So what's the deal? Why no Nine? Are the ratings that bad?
I really liked the show and want to see more.

This does not bode well.....

The Colts won, and that's a good thing. Otherwise, Chicago might actually start getting a big ego. (This is sarcasm, btw.)

Indianapolis has never had a reason to have a big ego, except for David Letterman. So it's their turn.

True story: I was in Chicago once, in the summer of 2003. I was stopped on the street by a couple of bums. They gave me the big story about how they're not really bums; they have jobs, etc. and they just need enough to last 'til Monday or something. I said, "OK, you can have four dollars", and I pulled out four dollars and gave it to them. They said, "Oh, come on, man, I see another dollar in your wallet there. Give us another dollar. Come on, don't be a cheapskate."

I wound up giving them another dollar.

Jeez. Not just bums, but pushy, demanding bums. I hate Chicago.

Saving Private Ryan, on HBO On Demand

I love everything leading up to the last fight. It's about 50% ambush, and 50% last stand. The minute or so that they build tension where you can hear the German Tiger rolling in but you can't see it is fantastic. According to the accounts of many G.I.'s during the war, the sound of a Tiger was very distinctive, and would often cause troopers to simply break and run.

Good flick.

Sure. But you have to be able to take wet, freezing conditions for shifts of 30 hours or so at a time, with no rest, and extreme danger, and I hope you're young and strong and have a sense of humor about yourself.

Good luck!

Star Stories: The Church Of Scientology Presents...Tom Cruise: How Scientology Is In No Way Mental on Channel 4 a few days back was a delicious spoof on all things Tom, with Nicole Kidman, John Travolta, Katie Holmes, Keifer Sutherland and several more coming in for a merciless ribbing. OK, easy targets, I know, and cliched it may've been but it was still pretty funny all the same.
