Television Commercials

The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

Television Commercials

Postby so sorry on Wed Apr 12, 2006 1:37 pm

I started this thread soley to discuss one set of TV commericals, but anyone can chime in with commercials they love or hate.

so has anyone seen any of the TBS commercials for their broadcast of the LOTR Trilogy coming up?

fucking. hysterical.

One commercial was a 30 second montage of Frodo falling down (which really was a lot).

One dealt with Gollum about him getting picked on all the time.

the best was the one where they "implied" that Frodo and Sam were g@y for each other. The soundtrack for the commercial was "Secret Lover".

really funny stuff.
check 'em out here:

Yeah, those are funny. And it's even funnier that they're using them as legitimate ads for those movies (i.e. they want people to watch).

There's a Cingular commercial playing right now with this girl under an umbrella talking about dropped calls. I don't know why, but I think she's cute as hell and everytime I catch that commercial while I'm fast-forwarding my tape (not everyone has DVRs!) I have to stop and watch it. They've sucked me in!

while generally annoying, the Cingular ads during the NCAA's had a good line...

"Why do you even have a cell?"

"'Cuz it's shiny."

got a chuckle out of me.

One ad I'm confused with is the new Boston Market, "It's better than you remember." Um, I remember it as a mighty colon-clogger, so your sayin' that it's BETTER now? Way to remind me of how shit stopping awful it was in the first place!
Personally, I'm an atheist in the voting booth and a theist in the movie theatre. I separate the morality of religion with the spirituality and solace of it. There is something boring about atheism.

The Girl from that commercial played the Russian sex slave girl in E6 or 7 (?) of 24 this season. She do have nice eyes, don't she?

hahaha. what kind of shit is that to say about your own establishment? totally copping to your own disgustingness. "Hey, give us another try, its not that bad anymore, we promise." fuckers. i used to work for those penny pinching cock knockers. i knew they would take a dive when they started making major cheap-out changes to the menu. even before then, that was the only food place i ever worked for that i would routinely turn down free grub from. nasty. i should know, i prepared it all.

Here is an internet only ad for Channel 4 in the UK.

It has about 50 US & British TV actors telling the viewers what their favourite swear word is.

DEFINITELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK - EXTREME COARSE LANGUAGE

Swearing Celebrities Advert

My favourites are:

Peter Gallagher (The OC)
Janel Maloney (The West Wing) !!!!!
Rachel Bilson (The OC)
Peter Krause (Six Feet Under)
Zach Braff (Scrubs)

My current favorite commercial is the Fruit of the Loom ad where the fruit guys are singing a Coldplayesque song about blue underwear accompanied by requisite arty-all-backwards video.

The line 'the world's embraced my sacred underpants' makes me laugh every single time. And I didn't miss the fact that Apple is singing....

I'm quite fond of the previous Fruit of the Loom ad, "You Can't Overlove." The imagery is hilarious, but my favorite part is the end, when the Guys are watching the video.

"I'm seeing an awful lot of Apple."
"What happened to my steel guitar solo?"
"We ran long. Some stuff had to go." (approximately)

The best part of that commercial is how Apple is so captivated with his own image that he stands there, nodding approvingly while watching himself in the video, oblivious to the argument his bandmates are having right next to him.

Ok what the hell is with the new Doritos commercials? I do not know if they are just local or what not and the only place I can even find them on the web is on their web site under ADS.

Are they really still trying to push Godzilla? That movie came out almost 10 years ago and, as I recall, did not do so hot. So why would they put him in their commercial?

Do you think they might be pushing for a ::shudder:: sequel?

that commercial has been running all over the place for the last few weeks, and during the US Open coverage it seems as if it runs during every commercial break. good strategy, i think, for Sharapova, who's been marketed as a pretty face more than a top player, which this commercial addresses directly.

This Guinness ad has been rocking my world for a while now - do they show this in the US? You may have to enter your DOB and location to get into the site, but the link should take you straight there once you've done that.

Oh thats a sweet one. Any ideas where to get hold of that version of the song? I've got the Sammy Davis Jnr version but it doesn't have all the brass kicking in towards the end.
