The movie had better be at least that cool. They had better have a car that can transform instantly into a boat.

Wait, so they're like M&M's in a Skittles bag? Or are they chocolate covered Skittles encased in a hard candy shell?

And yeah, that ad is pretty good, but I kinda prefer the one with the dude who turns anything he touches into the candy.

I love this commercial. It's my favorite of theirs: Orbit - Raspberry Mint

I have no idea why she said that "Lint Licker" line like that...she doesn't really sound like she's pissed, more like some idiot valley girl.

The newer one with the model who's being horrible to the intern and the intern getting her revenge by spraying her with a mouth of dirty pool water is funnier.

I admit that entertainment may be getting mean spirited, but I think that was justly deserved.

What I don't get is that Cheetos commercial with the laundromat. I really don't think that woman was being a bitch about the dryers, so why does she deserve the cheetos messing up her laundry? I just think that looked like that other girl was a rash bitch for doing that. And I don't think that's justified.

Skittles commercials are the fucking weirdest things ever.

And regarding the candy itself: its chocolate flavored skittles. No real chocolate at all. They aren't horrible, but they're not really good either.

I dig the Michael Bay commercial for Verizon Fios. I'm guessing that most of you outside of the US haven't had a chance to see it.

It's Bay at his house (presumably) and he's like "Hi, I'm Michael Bay, director of awesome films. I demand that things be AWESOME!" Then he clicks a button in his hand and a huge explosion goes off in the background. Later on, he's standing in the backyard "Awesome barbecue..." (there's a full scale Bumblebee robot standing behind the grill, which explodes when he pushes another button) "Awesome pool!" (yes, the pool then blows up)

It's pretty damn funny, look for it on YouTube. Can't from work, or else I'd find it for you guys.

Here's one of the most bizarre and depraved things I've ever seen.

Courtesy of the 1960's, it's a Jell-O ad featuring the cast of Hogan's Heroes.

Carol Channing appears, but then disappears. A tour de force!

Cheers! I was hoping someone would pick that one up. It loses a little on the small screen, but when I first seen it on TV I nearly pooped my pants.

British Telecom have a new advert (probably because the guy who stars in the long-running series is off for a bout after getting hit by a car or something)...

The new advert has the Gremlins in... as in - the green, mischevious, all-singing all-dancing kind from the movie with the Peltzers in!

Would it have cost them a lot to use them? And who do they have to pay to use their imagery?

they had to rent in the puppets too.
Probably WB. Maybe a couple of Jim Henson animators.
It wasn't that slick but they probably paid a hefty bundle in the license considering they also used the music from the original film.
The puppet control sucked a bit though.

Yeah, the puppetting was pretty rubbish, but at least they looked more realistic than the nob from Dragons Den who was "acting" with them.

DirecTV Ad featuring Craig T. Nelson and.... Heather O'Rourke!??!?!

I've enjoyed all of the DirecTV within-the-movie ads so far, but I'm not a fan of this one at all.
Considering his co-star in the ad died when she was 12.... that just seems wrong.

It is a bit ghoulish but I'm sure they had to get permission from her family to use her likeness and voice.

Totally agree... I know they probably had to get her family's permission, but it is creepy as fuck to see her in there.

And really Craig T Nelson? This is where your life is right now? Direct TV commercials?

Really stupid...agreed. And I love how they try and inject some kind of social/political relevance in there: a guy in Alaska saving whales (oh, isn't that cute), an african bush teacher with her 200 students (oh, isn't that cute), a philosphy professer extolling the existential meaning of what it is to be a PC (oh, isn't that...wait, wtf did he say?).

Where are the "I'm a PC, and I surf for porn every night" guys that make up 99% of PC users?

I don't know, I kind of see what they're going for with that commercial... although part of it is to probably make PCs seem "with-it" or whatever, I think it's basically trying to say you don't have to buy a Mac to NOT be John Hodgeman (or whatever that dude's name is).

As most people living in the United States (and maybe Canada...?) know, ESPN is famous for their commercials. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that both the office world and the sports world are ripe for parody, and putting them both together yields strangely awesome results. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that they don't have to worry about actually selling anything. Either way, they know how to bring it.

For those of you not familiar with the NBA, all you need to know is that the character in this video is a mascot for the Milwaukee Bucks. The rest of the commercial explains itself:

one thing that makes it less enjoyable to watch sports is the absolutely lame Bud Light commercials. i am not sure who they reflect upon worse, the insidious little Struggling Background Artists who make them or the fucking morons who apparently responded positively to them enough to keep them running....

...to be fair the Miller Light commercials with the bar whores ragging on dudes who don't care what light beer they get are only a micro-bit less shit

seriously, you can tell a lot about the target market for a product by watching the commercials, because the companies and marketing people aren't just throwing shit out there blind, if a commercial runs, and continues to run, it is because it is testing well among those it is intended to entice into buying the product....and so beer commercials are very telling....very telling indeed...
