Ah, fuck - I was hoping somebody could tell me! Even Guinness themselves say it's Sammy Davis Jr, but it's certainly no version I've ever heard. Sorry Tony, I wish I knew! Cool ad though - apparently, you can see the lampost changing from electric to gas if you look hard enough!

It does piss me off when ads use really cool music which isn't commercially available - I love the harp version of 20th Century Boy in the Jameson whiskey ad. To see it, click this link - get into the site and open the pop-up box. Click on "Play" at the top of the page, then click on "The Ads" - a pic will apear, click on the harp in the background, and you can either watch or download the clip.

The songs is performed by 'Sweet Charity' you can get it off itunes, or HMV. The guinness one that is.

Alas, Sweet Charity is just the name of the musical that the tune's taken from. Unless HMV are selling that particular version? In checked their site and could only find the Sammy Davis one. Still, cheers for trying dude!

I think you can get the sweet charity cd though? i just presumed it would be on there. I wrote itunes because it came up when i googled it, but couldn't get on there. Sorry if it was a pointless misdirection by myself, i was only trying to help. It's a good tune though. sounds a lot like it's being sung by Paul Anka.

Okay, best commercial I've seen in a long time...

The new Diet Mountain Dew one where the SWAT team busts in on a guy giving a window puppet show because they're illegal in New York.

Ok - there's a few commercials I like - but there's one that I really HATE - it just makes me really, really angry.

I will vent my anger here.

I don't know whether you have BASE - it's a mobile provider in Germany, Belgium and Holland.

Their whole advertising campaign is based on the slogan 'freedom of speech'. Like: "now I finally have freedom of speech - I can call all day long to all my stupid empty-headed friends and talk about stupid irrelevant things all day long - without having to -pay anything extra".

This gross distortion of the original meaning of 'freedom of speech' makes me MAD -so very MAD -really John-Cleese-in-the-sketch-with-the-fork-at-the-restaurant-MAD!!!

grrrrrrrr....

Well you see I like eggs. Especially ones with vinegar, sesame seed oil and mustard. Not too much mustard mind you, that could make a man cough and splutter and spit it into a bin.

Eggs are also more interesting then the corruption of moral values as I like to ponder such questions as 'which came first', or 'what does the Easter bunny have to do with eggs'.

I also like omelettes, scotch eggs, eggy bread (or French toast for the fancier ones out there) and poached eggs on ham. Green eggs on ham I am a fan! I like them yes, oh Sam-I-am! They are so good, so good, you see. I’m so excited, that I could pee…

Close... but think, ummm.. how do I put this.

Think more clogged, but a lot cheaper, a touch of despair and a <gulp>… handful o’ Havoc.

My therapist has told me that some things are good to repress… that being one of them. There was something once that happened with Kirk and a dolphin, but I don’t really remember. I just know that I HATE ALL DOLPHINS NOW….

But i like the premise generally, i think it's quite good...

Ah sweet Jebus!!!! VW is using a really freakin' sweet new Wilco song called "Either Way" in an ad I just saw for the first time just now.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand... I fuckin' hate that every time I hear that song I'm going to think of a damn Jetta. On the other hand... at least people are going to hear the song...

I think perhaps they're making a joke about Collins's extremely vigorous drumming on that track, but what it has to do with the product - which they hardly mention and I being a Yank don't recognize - I've no idea.

People act very very strange in television commercials. Take those for food products, most notably pizza commercials. The looks these people get on their faces when they bite into their meals cracks me up. It's like they are transported to a land of pure orgasmic nirvana when they feed. Who eats like that?

I think it's supposed to be that the joy that gorilla gets out of pounding away on that drum solo is similar to the joy you would get if you ate their chocolate. Or something. Mostly I just like it because there's a guy in a monkey suit playing drums.

Creepier than keeping two fish alive with just your armpit sweat? Yeah, I guess you're right.

For those not in the know, Lynx is the British Axe- they're both owned by the same company. It's quite amusing, actually; you'll see Axe sold on budget here, while Lynx will sometimes turn up in Canadian budget stores 5 times cheaper.

I always found the idea of branding smells a bit alftarded, anyway. "My odour cost 10 times more than your odour." In my day, we used to buy limes from the local greengrocer, slice them in two, and put one half under each armpit. Of course, when people started getting rashes they stopped doing that. But I'm telling you, you're far less likely to score with anyone smelling of Lynx...or Axe...or Eau Du Paris Hilton than with a good, old-fashioned armpit lime.
