It's just too awesome to bottle up. I've watched it at least 6 times.

Such brilliance in the last two eps. Very brave of them.

I can't wait to see how #12 goes down. #11 was awesome.

The cliffhangers at the end of each episode recently have been absolutely fantastic!

Lila's a girl?

And yeah, Dexter will teh sux if it goes to network TV. The Soprano's on A&E was awful. The language is part of the show. Getting rid of it is like splitting up Zan and Janna.

I've watched both seasons and I have to say that after Lost this is my favourite TV show ever. It is absolutely brilliant and there is nothing like it.

I've also decided to start reading the books. So far I can see why the TV show turned out to be so great when they had this material to work with. Really recommended to those who haven't read them yet.

awesome finale! i loved the callback to the show's intro and theme after dexter is "freed". i also loved how he's so happy with everything until he realizes who it was who freed him.

i also have a feeling laguerta is gonna get one of those "open only in the event of my death" letters from doakes. dexter isn't out of the shit entirely yet, if you ask me.

Yes, it was great! I loved how they showed his NEW blood slide holder (dunno what you call those things). He traveled far to take care of Lyla didn't he?

Glad the Deb/Lundy romance is over. Too cheesy for me.

I was pretty touched by the scene where Dexter said to Angel that he was his favourite; that if he could choose to be someone of them it would be him. The last three eps (which I ended up watching together) made for an excellent movie length finale, the twists, however unlikely, were handled so well and seem pretty plausible - best show on tv at the moment - already waiting impatiently for season 3.

I actually felt like the finale while gratifying was a little too predictable. We didnt really see too much that hadnt been discussed here or that I hadnt discussed with other friends.

What a finishing performance by Doaks....I still can't believe they got rid of him.

It just seemed too easy to tie everything up by killing one of the main characters...and what a horrid death it was too.

The last scene with Dex and Lila was pretty touching. He killed her quick as some sort of favour to his own creation, brilliant....and the very last lines about Dex needing to learn new rituals and him holding his new box......what a fantastic set up.

Well we all knew that Doakes and Lyla needed to be eliminated from the equation. We just weren't certain how that would come about. I would have enjoyed a cliffhanger though.

I would have liked it if they'd kept Doakes in there for season 3. He could have escaped to Haiti and hide in the bush as a rogue vigilante- remaining an always looming danger to Dexter. Like papa said, it seemed a tiny bit easy to just kill him off. I'm thinking now probably Lundy will take on the role of Dexter's nemesis in season 3.

The ending of Lyla was perfect though. Not only because it complicates Dexter's moral justifications (how much of a 'arry code killing was that, really) -but also because it matches the ending of season 1 so artfully: again Dexter ends up killing the one person that knows his dark side and -more importantly - cheers it on.

I think there hasn't been one single episode in the entire two series that I didn't like. Michael C. Hall really can call himself a happy man- already he's played a lead in two of the best television series ever.

maybe the expectation to be like Lost or (zod forbid) heroes is part of it. a lot of shows these days throw in twists and surprises. this show doesn't have any overt twists, but i don't think it needs it. the little surprises, like lila's reaction when she finds out who dexter is, or deb showing up and screwing up dexter's first plan to get rid of lila, that's enough for me. yeah, the first season had the surprise twist with his brother, but i had that one figured out at least 2-3 episodes in advance, so it didn't really surprise me.

i'm telling you all, it's gonna be laguerta. like OJ, she'll never give up looking for the "real killer."

MCH is great, and the best compliment to him i can give is that this role totally makes me forget all about his character from SFU.

Oh absolutely - the dynamic of her role in the show has been defined by Doakes now - before that she seemed a like a slightly redundant character this season.

I dunno - I liked her as the ruthlessly driven career woman with a soft spot already. But I like her even more now that she's found a true vindicating mission - apart from furthering her career. I found her loyalty to Doakes quite touching.

I would have liked that too. I would have preferred if Doakes and Dex had come to an uneasy understanding, realising that both had to exist whether in or out of the law. Would hav ecreated an excellent Dynamic for the next series.

I'd like to think there's a difference between both endings and the way he dispatches them both. In the first series, his brother was a serial killer, better than Dex himself but uncontrolled, so Dex shows his brother his last work of art by making him participate in the final act.

With Lila, she was a creation of his own means, an abhorration from his own hands and not a serial killer. Dex killed her quick and lovingly by making it painless and letting him be the last thing she sees. It was actually quite kind and sweet.

Without actually looking at any posts, since I know the season already ended, let me just give my review of the series up til the point I have watched (which would be the first four episodes):

ROFL!!!

Seriously, this show has gotten pretty fuckin funny! Dexter's V.O. work is so great this season.

"I hope they catch the Bay Harbor Butcher today. And when they do, I hope the hurt him. *smooch* Have a nice day, Dex!"
(voiceover) "Make up your mind!"

So great. Lila is smokin hot for a fucking crazy broad. And LaGuerta... oh my god, LaGuerta, what a gentleman! Sleeping with the boss's man to get her job back?! Wow, she IS an animal.

I'll be back when I finish, or feel the need to post again.

Laguerta being a side nemesis next season will be a good ofr her character.

I am totally with Papa about the differences in the season endings.

I don't have much to add here other than what's already been said, although I was really surprised that they killed off Doakes. I actually enjoyed his character this season, compared to last.

And Lila's lower lip horrifies me... I know you all probably aren't looking at her lip, but I just can't get past it. That jutting, loose flappy thing... eww. I'm glad I won't have to look at it next season.

TheBaxter wrote:maybe the expectation to be like Lost or (zod forbid) heroes is part of it. a lot of shows these days throw in twists and surprises. this show doesn't have any overt twists, but i don't think it needs it. the little surprises, like lila's reaction when she finds out who dexter is, or deb showing up and screwing up dexter's first plan to get rid of lila, that's enough for me. yeah, the first season had the surprise twist with his brother, but i had that one figured out at least 2-3 episodes in advance, so it didn't really surprise me.

Totally agree. It's like a game of chess against a grand master. You know you're going to lose but like hell you would pass up the opportunity to see it play out and be part of it.

MCH is great, and the best compliment to him i can give is that this role totally makes me forget all about his character from SFU.

Perfectly written there.

Ok... so I had never heard of Dexter until a few weeks ago. So, I got online and read the product description on Amazon.com and then watched the first episode online. Mrs. Junesquad and I went out shortly thereafter and purchased season one and are pretty much half way through it and we've only owned it about 15 hours. We're addicted.

At this point, I must admit that I hate Doakes.... but his acting seems to be improving a little better. At first, he was just walking around cursing just to be cursing. However, I love the sister and the girlfriend. The layers that exist in this show keep me coming back for more.

Yoikes... there was a scene in one of the episodes we just watched. I don't think it bothered her that much, but I'll give her the warning.

Another fan. Hooray!

Series one was incredible. I really hope it leaves you wanting more.

BTW, I found the first few episodes of series 2 slow burners so please don't feel the need to give up too early on because it snowballs until the very last episode.

It hardly leaves you room to breathe and it keeps you hanging by a thread.

Well, I stuck it out with Alias, I'm sure Dexter has me to the end. Besides... I wanna see if my prediction comes true.
