It's just too awesome to bottle up. I've watched it at least 6 times.
Such brilliance in the last two eps. Very brave of them.
You can discuss week episode 11

Sews papa's lips together.
Man, you're gonna find that comment really spooky when you get to the scene where Dexter sews that guys lips together...

but if you're lucky, you might get to see the censored version on CBS this spring.
bah, you're better off waiting for the dvds, if only for lila's tits.
TheBaxter wrote:awesome finale! i loved the callback to the show's intro and theme after dexter is "freed". i also loved how he's so happy with everything until he realizes who it was who freed him.
i also have a feeling laguerta is gonna get one of those "open only in the event of my death" letters from doakes. dexter isn't out of the shit entirely yet, if you ask me.
stereosforgeeks wrote:I actually felt like the finale while gratifying was a little too predictable. We didnt really see too much that hadnt been discussed here or that I hadnt discussed with other friends.
Still excited for season 3 though.

Well we all knew that Doakes and Lyla needed to be eliminated from the equation. We just weren't certain how that would come about. I would have enjoyed a cliffhanger though.

I would have liked it if they'd kept Doakes in there for season 3. He could have escaped to Haiti and hide in the bush as a rogue vigilante- remaining an always looming danger to Dexter. Like papa said, it seemed a tiny bit easy to just kill him off. I'm thinking now probably Lundy will take on the role of Dexter's nemesis in season 3.
The ending of Lyla was perfect though. Not only because it complicates Dexter's moral justifications (how much of a 'arry code killing was that, really) -but also because it matches the ending of season 1 so artfully: again Dexter ends up killing the one person that knows his dark side and -more importantly - cheers it on.
I think there hasn't been one single episode in the entire two series that I didn't like. Michael C. Hall really can call himself a happy man- already he's played a lead in two of the best television series ever.

Oh absolutely - the dynamic of her role in the show has been defined by Doakes now - before that she seemed a like a slightly redundant character.

TheBaxter wrote:maybe the expectation to be like Lost or (zod forbid) heroes is part of it. a lot of shows these days throw in twists and surprises. this show doesn't have any overt twists, but i don't think it needs it. the little surprises, like lila's reaction when she finds out who dexter is, or deb showing up and screwing up dexter's first plan to get rid of lila, that's enough for me. yeah, the first season had the surprise twist with his brother, but i had that one figured out at least 2-3 episodes in advance, so it didn't really surprise me.

MCH is great, and the best compliment to him i can give is that this role totally makes me forget all about his character from SFU.
junesquad wrote:Ok... so I had never heard of Dexter until a few weeks ago. So, I got online and read the product description on Amazon.com and then watched the first episode online. Mrs. Junesquad and I went out shortly thereafter and purchased season one and are pretty much half way through it and we've only owned it about 15 hours. We're addicted.
At this point, I must admit that I hate Doakes.... but his acting seems to be improving a little better. At first, he was just walking around cursing just to be cursing. However, I love the sister and the girlfriend. The layers that exist in this show keep me coming back for more.

Series one was incredible. I really hope it leaves you wanting more.
BTW, I found the first few episodes of series 2 slow burners so please don't feel the need to give up too early on because it snowballs until the very last episode.
It hardly leaves you room to breathe and it keeps you hanging by a thread.
