The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

I've been watching and I agree, it's pretty good and well deserving of being the best reviewed show of the summer. It easily beats the overwrought "Damages," IMO, and I've been meaning to post about it in the "Mad Men" thread for weeks now.

Any of you folks ever check out Nickelodeons GAS network? It bascially shows GUTS, FIGURE IT OUT, NICK ARCADE...etc. on a constant loop.

It is surprisingly entertaining...especially if you grew up with this stuff.

one of the ads on the main site reminded me of this........

......does anyone remember the live action TV series "Witchblade" that ran a few years ago? i think on TNT, maybe USA, one of those big cable networks. the son on "Nip/Tuck" was on there too, a dealer in collectibles who helped out the Witchblade chick and even had some chemistry with her. i was not familiar with the comic but i watched it and enjoyed it, and then, i think as much because of the lead actress falling into a bottle as ratings, they didn't bring it back for a second season. i was pissed because there wasn't closure to the story. couple things; anyone else find the lead actress to be teh hotness? anyone know what the hell happened to her?anyone else beside me like the show and was disappointed it ended so soon?

I have always enjoyed looking at Yancy Butler, going back to Mann and Machine (she played Machine) fifteen years ago. She's currently in a recurring role on As the World Turns and trying to stay out of legal trouble involving her alcoholism.

KID NATION is a reality-based series in which 40 kids will have 40 days to build a new world...

Yeah, I saw the ads for this on TV...then...the controversy on-line!!!?

It's an interesting concept. Some of those kids seem pretty intelligent, too. I'll at least check out an ep. or two and then judge from there...

I am going to tell you all about a recent letter in TV Guide. A Christian mom said she's unhappy with all the witch-themed programs on the Disney Channel. If I met this lady in person, I would say to her-

GET A LIFE! IT'S NOT REAL! PEOPLE COULDN'T MAKE CARPETS FLY OR TURN BACK TIME! DAMMIT, WHERE'S YOUR IMAGINATION?! ARE YOU GOING TO DEPRIVE YOUR DAUGHTERS OF THAT, TOO? FUCK YOU!!!!

Okay, end rant.

The show, however, "Wizards of Waverly Place" reminds me of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and it has David Deluise playing the dad (Which makes me hope his dad Dom will make an appearance) and Paulie Litt (Spridle in "Speed Racer") showing up on an episode. Yes, I like those shows. So sue me. :)

American Gladiators is being brought back next year on NBC.

The host is going to be Hulk Hogan.

Hopefully this won't lead to a revival of Gladiators in the UK with John Fashanu. AWOOGA!!!

Wasn't there a show like that on NBC, only they had to share the place with a dying clown played by the late, great Tom Poston? But yeah, they shouldn't touch that...or "The Mighty Boosh".

The fact that everyone's favorite special imaginary friend Cheese was singing Queen's "You're My Best Friend" in the Macy's parade made me smile.

I sadly can't find the video on YouTube yet, but I'll just post that "Cheesequest" video...

Scully is the new host of "Masterpiece Theater"

And they will also be airing "My Boy Jack", a story about Rudyard Kipling and his wife (Kim Catrall) searching for their son (Daniel Radcliffe) in WWI London. If any of you in the UK saw it, can you tell us if it's worth watching?

It was pretty good. Radcliffe was very competent, but WWI dramas tend to leave me a bit cold. I think it's partly to do with the massive amount of superb WWI poetry out there. The dramatisations never seem to get me like the poetry can.

Still, worth a look, especially for Radcliffe fans - it was an interesting new direction from him, that's for sure...

Yup, it really seems to have been a love it or hate it kinda thing. I really didn't care for it...but then it replaced John From Cincinnati which I loved so maybe that's part of it.

There are a few left off the list that I DO love, like Weeds and The Shield. Also, no Dexter or The Wire, neither of which I watch but I understand are very good. Did The Wire HAVE any episodes in 2007?

I think Season 2 of Lost is a better season overall. Season 3 started out shaky and then kicked it up to OMFG level. Maybe that's why he said it was the best season yet?....because if you counted the last 11 or so episodes then yea, it definitely was.

I always find TV "End of the Year lists" especially hard to compile because you are essentially dealing with the the last half of one season and the beginning of the subsequent season.

Heroes is a prime example. If I were to go by the last half of the first season...it would probably get a spot on my top 10. However, taking into account the absolutely AWFUL beginning of the season season I am not sure I can justify it being anywhere near the top 10.

I think if I were to compile a list like this I would be sure to distinguish between the end of one season or the beginning. So a show could essentially make it on the list twice if they had a solid second half and a solid opening ot the next season.

As for Herc's list...not too shabby. It is nice to see some Veronica Mars love. And his inclusion of Tell Me You Love Me is quite the shock.

The pilot ep of Mad Men was brilliant, but the rest of the season was a slow let down. Sure, they nailed every aspect of the 60s down to the garters and human chimneys, BUT the dialogue often sounded stilted to my ears. And every time that freaking Pete Campbell character was onscreen I had a major "You are so acting!!!" spaz. Plus they split the focus onto too many subplots and didn't build up story arcs in any satisfactory way. Toward the end I only stuck around to see Christina Hendricks wiggle her bum in a skintight dress and say something devastating.

I'm wondering if anyone caught the reboot of "George of the Jungle"...and why they're pandering to minorities by making Ursula a latina. I'm pretty ashamed of Tiffany Ward (Jay's daughter) at this point. Come on, they didn't do that in the movies... Instead, they have a hot redhead named Magnolia who's as dumb as George.

Now THAT is childhood rape.

Just finished Lost Season 2...wow.

I have the third season teed up for this evening. But I digress; season 2 kicked all sorts of ass. Taken in over a three day period, the story really flowed well, and everything that seemed like bloat was really another plot point (device, if you must), furthering the story and mystery.

Fuck, this is the Bruce Lee of TV shows; lean, mean, and not a wasted movement. Like Lee it shrugs off form and tradition, and goes straight for the kill.

My only concern, which I voiced at 4AM after laying awake thinking about the season 2 finale, is that the writers may be x-filing themselves; that is to say that I hope they have a decent explanation of the goings on, and have not enigma’d themselves into a corner by throwing twists at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Lost, Season 2, you are hereby charged with 8 counts of awesome and 1 count of HOLY SHIT, a sentence of 9 out of 10 thumbs up will be served immediately.
He can't' love you back...
