There was the big network move, plus all the work he had to do to get the musical episode off the ground. After OMWF he then went to develop Firefly. I think he gave everyone the broad strokes of the season in the beginning of the year and then left Marti Noxon to see it through. Maybe he figured Willow would be addicted to magic (though I think if she was addicted to anything, it was power), but his idea of that arc and the actual execution of it played out very differently.

We'll never know, but to my mind, Willow was on a certain path all through seasons 3 and 5 and then season 6 came along and messed everything up. I guess she was "redeemed" in season 7, but was it even worth going there? For half a season, Willow sat and did nothing (that could apply to both S6 and S7!) and then right at the end she puts on a song and dance and the season (series) is over.

Boy oh boy. Joss really dropped the ball when it came to Willow. Luckily, the damage was minimized for the most part, unlike with Cordelia. *sigh*

Well said, and this certainly clears up a lot for me. I always forget that Joss ran off to do Firefly toward the end of Buffy.

Oh, and for no apparent reason, here's a history of my exposure to Joss:

1. Roomie shows me Firefly on DVD. During the pilot episode, I nod approvingly when there's no sound in space. Next thing I know, Objects in Space is ending and I'm in tears.

2. I go on to simultaneously inhale Buffy and The X-Files on DVD, and follow that up with Angel as Buffy runs down.

3. I do all this with my roomie in the span of about four months.

4. No, I'm not writing this on my BlackBerry in an insane asylum. ;)

So I always forget Joss' work history.

And I agree: I dug how the Powers that Be promoted Cordy to demigod -- it felt like another signature Whedon move -- but I wasn't overwhelmed with the ol' "holy shit she was a ghost the whole time" cameo she got in season five.

Yeah it was pretty biased..

Borenaz is doing well for himself in Bones..it got renewed. I personally don't watch it, but it's an alright show from what I've seen

Grudge did suck though, but Gellar's only "cameo-ing" in the Grudge 2. Amber Tamblyn is the star..
We'll see if Southland Tales, Alice, and The Air I Breathe are any good. But these projects sound interesting so far.

Hannigan: This is where I might agree with the writer. That CBS sitcom isn't very funny and that Date Movie looked excruciating..She should do some indies stat!

Nicholas: Yeah that Kitchen Confidential show was real stinky..

Head: He's did ok with the Little Britian stuff. No problems really.

None of these projects are probably ever going to be bigger than Buffy or Angel..IMO. But it's not anyone expects them be, nor do I feel obligated to watch them because a Buffy star is in them.

However, a Buffy/Angel Movie would rock harder than all their projects. FACT! Let's get the ball rolling Joss.

"Bigger" is relative. More people see Alyson Hannigan and David Boreanaz each week than when they were on Buffy. The quality of the series is a matter of opinion, but their audience size is not. Date Movie made a tidy profit. SMG has several films in the pipeline.

The fact that all the main cast of Buffy are currently working steadily (save for Nicholas Brendon) is contrary to any "curse" statement. And the fact that while the spotlight isn't as focused on them as in the past, they are being seen by more people, I don't see how that is a bad thing.

There is not a Buffy curse. At least, not with the evidence presented in that dubious article.

While Joss Whedon bangs away at the Wonder Woman script (and no, Kate Beckinsale is not Wonder Woman, though she wouldn't be too bad of a choice ), Tim Minear, Angel and Firefly showrunner, is releasing a new DVD called Breaking the Story.

Breaking the Story is an exercise in breaking a single episode of a one-hour drama, with active audience participation. Armed with a white board and marker, Tim Minear guides the class through teaser and act breaks of an episode of the long-running WB hit television show, Angel.

More information can be found at the Creative Screenwriting website.

I'll definitely be picking that one up! :)

Just blowing the dust off this thread. Need some zoner help here. I am decorating the exterior of a house for Halloween. I want to include some sort of Buffy reference, possibly subtle, but perhaps over the top. Once finished Ill post on picture of the day. Suggestions?

If you want really subtle, how about a GI Joe doll dressed up as the demon they accidentally summon on halloween - the 6 inch high one.

Creepy is good, funny is better. I have a skeletal hand shooting out of the ground in front of a headstone, thats creepy.

or you could make a paper bag that said "Double Meat Palace" on it, and have a severed body part inside, sitting at the front door or something.

If you were really pushing out the boat, bamf, I'm sure Freddie Prince has a free afternoon or two.

Something along the lines of

would probably fit.

Or Sunnydale Cemetary.
Buffy's tombstone from the end of season five.

I just cannot figure out how to mod the pre-fabd styrofoam headstone. Could just print some stone like letters and paste them on, but too chinsy lookin. I need some creature feature people. Working on that bunny costume as well but looks like the door is staying.

You need a precision heated cutting tool to do the letter right. I remember using them in school. I'm not really and arts and crafts kind of guy so I don't know where you can find one. Any crafts store I should imagine.

I took all if your suggestions and did what I could. I finished it all about two weeks ago. I had the "Double Meat Palace" bag, a little army demon and "wigguns" written in blood on a tombstone. I live in a nice neighborhood, yet all of these things were stolen. I was going to take a picture, but thought I could benefit by waiting for it to look a little weathered. I am disappointed to say the least. A skeleton and a skull were taken as well. To add insult to injury I went for my nightly run and saw a guy a few streets over putting up a huge marquee that says "Sunnydale Cemetery", all lit up with big stone columns on each side. I cry foul. I’ve been sabotaged. Ill put a pic up on pic of the day later.

HA! I singing Spike's tune was so much fun. The "mmmm hmmm" part especially.

I honestly can't describe how much fun I had. It wa definitely a highlight for me. According to the guy who runs it this was their first show outside of NY and they are planning a nation wide tour. So it might be coming to a place near you.

ALSO, for you LA zoners they are planning a Buffy Prom in the actual high school they used for Sunnydale High!

Alright, now take a breath.
