Space: Above and Beyond

Does anyone remember this show? It came on fox I think.....between 1995-1996 it was focused on a squad of pilots/marines....they had missions flying and missions on the ground fighting. I think they were the smoking aces or something like that. Also they were on a galatica-like ship. There was a war between a mysterious species and earth. I loved this show when it came on....I just think it was ahead of its time.

Absolutely brilliant and way to short lived.

Great Show, watched every ep and wished there was more - The creators had previously done X-files and went on to Millenium after this.

It was really very good while it was on. Watched it on Sky One, who gave it a decent primetime slot. Glen Morgan and James Wong wrote many of the great X-Files episodes. To be fair, it did quite a few things back then that Battlestar Galactica is being applauded for now.

And Kristen Cloke looked quite nice.

You see....admitting to seeing this program would be like admitting you are over 'a certain age'.

As good as the program was, and I'm a big sci-fi fan, I'm only 12 so I don't remember.

Yeah I think I watched every episode of this show, but can't really remember any particular details about it, save that there was one episode which featured one of the pilots playing Johnny Cash as he flew about in his fighter.

I remember watching this show, but remember virtually nothing about it.

I used to watch Earth 2, as well. Earth 2 started out as a great idea, and then went downhill FAST....

All I remember about this show is how much time everybody spent posing. There were too many shot of characters trying to look cool and moody. I remember one scene where they had just taken an alien base single handed. When the relief turned up and entered the room they were in, all the characters were standing together and trying to look cool like they were waiting for a fashion photo to be taken. Plus, it took itself very seriuosly. No one laughed or joked. Take it from someone who has been in combat zones, there is an awful lot of (often gallows) humour. It helps relieve the tension.

I remember this show. It had the guy who plays the Head of CTU as the Pilot's commander. And one of the team was a clone or grown in a tank or something. Really well made for the time and FG is spot on about the BSG comparisons.
I loved the the episode where the commander went up against the Alien ace pilot. That was so cool.
Elitism is positing that your taste is equivalent to quality, you hate "Hamlet" does it make it "bad"? If you think so, you're one elite motherfucker.

I remember the episode because the alien ace had "Abandon All Hope" painted on his ship. Probably the best episode of the series.
