This past week's was okay. Tim Robbins is a little too intense for my tastes.
It was almost like he was doing the standard Sarandon/Robbins rant without any care to what everyone else was talking about.

I definitely agree, Fievel. Tim Robbins didn't seem to be aware of what anybody else was saying. My respect for him went down a few notches.

But I do like the show. Bill Maher himself bugs me a bit, because he's always laughing at his own jokes and seems such a Struggling Background Artist sometimes, but I'm glad that he keeps the show smart.

i love the show too. maher is a bit full of himself, but compared to the right-wing versions like an o'reilly or a hannity, or even compared to olbermann, he comes off somewhat better.

Picking with religion is a favorite pastime of Maher's and witnessing him doing it is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. But the comments on the Koran were justified as far as I know. I've seen plenty of passages about the use of the sword in my copy. It seems that American Islam and the International version are two highly different things.
I thought for sure that between that part and the "off the map" part that Mos Def was going to freak out and start swinging. He was just getting so wound up.

West is an interesting guy and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing him speak, but once Mos Def went off, it was all about commenting on what Def said.

Actually, after perusing the transcript, Mos Def was off is rocker from the get-go.

i think it was kinda sad. he actually made a decent point about how being black in america, growing up in the projects, he never felt any security to begin with, so 9/11 had a different meaning for him (west might have made the point def was trying to make a bit more coherently)... but then, once he goes off on the 9/11 conspiracy theory stuff and not believing in al qaida and bin laden and the moon landing and loch ness monster (ok, i'll give him that one), it just undercuts his more reasonable comments from earlier and makes him look like another wacko.

They were few and far between, but Mos did have some good comments. Unfortunately they were overshadowed by his rants.

The only one I read.... errr... listened to was New Rules, and it was most of the New Rules that were on his show. I actually got bored with it. I meant to check out others, but never got around to it.
