And we got a double dose of his mackness monday night since he's also on Boston Legal.

The second season has been progressing quite well. But why, oh why must this be on at the same time as Gossip Girl?!?!?

ARGH!

Curious what this upgrade will mean...

Well, watch Gossip Girl on TV and watch Chuck on Hulu.

Problem sorted

Yes, but then I have to wait another day to watch Chuck because it isn't posted on Hulu until the next day. If only Chuck was on an hour later my problems would be truly sorted.

Well, we live in the UK and don't get chuck anyway so we have to catch it on hulu (through a very nice backdoor)

Latest ep of chuck,

It was sooooo Gross Point Chuck. Very funny and very entertaining. This show is still cheap but still manages to surprise me. It reminds me a lot of Burn notice. It's awesome car crash TV which doesn't make the greatest moral choices and doesn't expect much of the audience yet at the same time manages to engross with great characters.

Love it!

Loved the latest episode. But I must admit that I was super miffed as to why they (the CIA) would allow so much of Sarah's past to be revealed. I was getting super pissed and was preparing myself to come on here and rant about how the show is entertaining but can be so DUMB at times. And then the last scene happened and BAM! we understood why they allowed so much to be revealed (because it in no way compromised her). Truthfully, this was actually a move I didn't think this show was smart enough to pull off. Not bad.

Dammit Lecko, the show concept is daft! The people are beautiful and they want the geek; it's a fantasy. Let it at that.

It certainly is not Heroes ;) It's daft, it's wacky, and the whole Grosse Point Blank storyline worked well and the characterisation is fun. Chuck is usually quite obvious where the storyline is going from the get go but it's gracefully executed with wonderful TV editing flair and a lil bit of respect for the characters and their emotions.

It's not rocket science and yet somehow it works so well.

No I get that. I really do. But it just irked me. I mean, it was just a level of sillyness that made no sense. Especially considering the earlier episode where Chuck wanted to know something REAL about Sarah and there was all this about not "compromising yourself in front of the asset". So that is what irked me. But again, the episode knew what it was doing and remedied that thus alleviating all my worries.

As I said, the last scene wrapped it up so nicely and made for a really wonderful episode. Plus, fucking Ben Savage was in it. That boy met world!

Ben Savage!!! Fuck me, I'll go back and watch it again now.

where was he?

He should have been in Shia's shoes now. Damn that man should have been Boy meets world, rather than 'Shia takes his place, A la Shang Tsung stylee'. It's the River Phoenix/Dicaprio scenario all over again.

Hey all... I have been in the wilderness for must-see shows but have finally settled on Chuck... and Pushing Daisies. Here's some old-time Trek geekiness surviving: did framegrabs from the third show when he flashes on the new chip, and got Casey's NSA ID number: 5498-5684, now added to the Chuck Wiki. Sorry, don't think Sarah's showed up. There were some random agents also--would love to see if they really come up, or to know if they are PAs, crew, etc.

BTW--you all do know that General Beckman, looking very severe, is Bonnie Friederichy, the wife of John Billingsley--ex-Dr. Phlox of Enterprise? I love how they occasionally shoot her whole office just to show they built more than in a one-wall set for the monitor.

OKay, so to get away from the perils of VDR in a time-shifting world ...

Here's your Chuck geek-cool fact of the day:
In Ep. 2.3 , vs. the The Break-Up, I did grabs of his flash on the new chip's various ID card images ... Sarah's was a bust (no pun intended) but Casey's came up:

His was:
NSA ID# 5498-5684

(bows)
You're welcome, you're welcome.

Jordanna Brewster is gorgeous. Yow!

EDIT: Holy shit, Jay Chandrasekhar of Super Troopers, Beerfest, Club Dredd, and Dukes of Hazard fame directed this ep?

EDIT 2: Killer episode! This show has totally found it's voice and it rocks.

Casting news! Courtesy of Chud

Tricia Helfer is replacing Yvonne Strahovski on NBC's spy comedy, Chuck.

For an episode at least. EW.com's Michael Ausiello has a piece delineating that General Beckmann (Bonita Friedericy), ever concerned that Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Sarah (Strahovski, my future ex-wife) have grown too close to effectively work together, replaces Agent Walker with Special Agent Alex Forrest (Helfer, my future ex-mistress). Forrest is a no-bullshit ass kicker, emotionally detached and cold-hearted, which pretty much makes her John Casey's (Adam Baldwin) dream girl. Helfer's run is scheduled to only be for one episode.

Ausiello also has other casting news regarding Jonathan Cake (Six Degrees) and Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl, Brooklyn Decker, the former being macho MI6 agent, Cole Barker, who catches Sarah's eye and makes Chuck feel more inadequate than usual, and the latter being a potential hire when Jeff and Lester take over the hiring process for the Buy More.

Thanks to Feral for the tip.

Another great episode of Chuck. It's good theyg don't rely too heavily on an over arching storyline and have these lovely little episodes.

It was in 3D as well. Unfortunately I don't own a set of 3D glasses (soon to be remedied - thanks CB!!!) but you could see the difference in filming, a lot of the backgrounds were blurry and you did get a sense of dimensions as the colours joined on foreground images.

Still, a very entertaining episode.

I love Dominic Monaghan's role as the Rock Star, especially after doing Lost. Charlie is in Chuck! And that's not a g@y porn title either.

Very funny, I loved the tranq darts and Chuck is still as loveable as ever.

Normal 3-D glasses would not have worked. They used something call true3D and you had to get the glasses from various retailers. Instead of shades of red and blue it was more like yellow and purple. The colors bled sometimes and it gave me a headache after a while (since I had to wear them over and then under my glasses to get it to work properly), but it was cool seeing the 3-D effect on TV, especially the opening scene (*rowr*) and the opening credits. It was fun once but I don't know if I'd want to do it all the time; not until they make more comfortable glasses anyway.

We got the Superbowl 3D glasses and whilst it was kinda cool and sort of worked, we found the right lens far too dark to make the show enjoyable to watch with them.

Still, I adore Chuck. Good show.

The 3D episode sorta sucked. The purple side annoyed the hell out of me.

I wonder what's going to happen now Chuck has evil intersect in his head. I wonder if it was the whole thing or just part?

If I remember correctly, the first episode, it took him all night to download it so it was probably just a tiny seciton.

It was an impressively touching episode, I loved the developement with Chuck and Sarah and of course Morgan and Anna were just superb. This show has definitely got a few more seasons in it.

Oh yes, great plot twists there. I still reckon the intersect only fully works in Chucks head only, that's another reason why his father had to get away from Ellie and Chuck (it works on both of them ;) )

that made me laugh too.

This show really is some of the best Geek TV around. Not only does it create it's own nice little story, neatly packed together, but also regularly references geek programming stylishly.

Brilliant!!

Last nights episdoe was truly a well crafted show. Good script and plot and moved the story into a new dimension.

The show is bordering on excellent and with this episode, I think it's beginning to push it over the edge. I'm loving Chuck.

After such a mediocre to lacklustre first series, the show really has come into it's own.

I hope Jill comes back for more eps, she's a hotty. And, I loved the Godfather reference after all the backstabbing.

I can't believe this show is on the bubble. Heroes' ratings this season haven't been much better. If that show stays and this show is canceled I'm gonna be pissed!

Oh definitely. Heroes is not in any way a patch on Chuck. Plus, production costs of chuck are cheaper :)

I see a clear answer. If only the networks would pick chuck up over here. It's a prime candidate for a nice 6:30 slot, just after the simpson, where Malcolm in the middle used to sit...or a 10pm slot. Great light entertainment.

Who caught the last (as in most recent, but probably final) Chuck? That episode rawked!!! I thought it wasn't going to get any better than Morgan and Jeffster stalling the wedding while Chuck, Sarah, and Casey battle Roark, but then the last 7 minutes happened.

"I know kung fu."

THIS SHOW BETTER COME BACK, GORRAM IT!!!

The only major problem i see with the ending is part of chucks charm was his normal geeky self attempting to be a spy and getting by because of good nature and luck. now that he has intersect 2.0 he really does become a spy hero and while i geek out at the possibilities part of me will miss old chuck. That is if we get a season 3 which i pray we do.

Been loving these last couple eps though so much awesomeness.

I agree, it could change the dynamic of the show but it was a fantastic ending. I really laughed alot.

from THR.com:
Still waiting to hear their fate are bubble series "Chuck," "Law & Order," "Medium" and "Earl" as well as the network's crop of pilots. NBC and "Earl" producer 20th TV are in negotiations for a full-season pickup.

Most of the other five series are also expected to get renewals, some of them, like "Medium" and veteran "Law & Order," probably not for a full season.

However, NBC is not expected to make a final decision on the fate of all of them by Monday, with fan favorite "Chuck" among those who will remain in contention beyond the infront.

From Variety:
During the weekend, NBC execs were in a typical pre-upfront cone-of-silence mode, but they let it be known that decisions on the fate of some other pilots and bubble shows, including "Chuck," wouldn't be made for at least another week. However, word spread Sunday that the Peacock had given a pickup to CBS Paramount Network TV drama "Medium."

NBC had already planned to unveil only its program lineup for the 2009-10 season Monday, while holding the release of its schedule for the week of May 19, when the rest of the broadcast nets host their upfronts.

The fate of "Chuck," the cult-fave dramedy from Warner Bros. TV, was said to be part of a larger conversation between Warners and NBC about "Southland" and the hourlong pilot from David E. Kelley, "Legally Mad." The Kelley pilot reportedly had mixed reviews from execs, but the feeling is that there's potential in the premise and the cast, and there's also a big penalty payment due if NBC does not order it to series.

From THR.com: NBC doesn't lower the ax yet - Delays verdict on pickups and renewals, preps for midseason

However, NBC will postpone the verdict on its two remaining bubble series: the quirky sophomore "Chuck" and veteran "Law & Order," which looks to tie "Gunsmoke's" record 20-season run.

Both series appear likely to return, but the decision won't be made until later in the month.

From AICN: LIFE Is Dead!! CHUCK Chucked From Mondays??
If “Chuck” does get renewed it probably won’t stay on Monday, as “a new show” is expected to join “Heroes” and “The Jay Leno Show” that night.

From THR.com: NBC renews 'Chuck'!

In the battle of Chuck vs. the Network Suits, the Buy More geek has prevailed.

NBC has decided to give Josh Schwartz's well-liked action-comedy another shot next fall.

The network picked up 13 episodes of the series from Warner Bros., which, in a business-side trend this year, made some budget concessions to secure the show a third season.

Fans pushed NBC very hard for a pickup, launching a "Save Chuck" campaign that included buying sandwiches at series sponsor Subway.

Chuck joins Southland, Heroes, Medium, L&O: SVU, Friday Night Lights and Parks & Recreation among shows NBC has renewed for fall. Given that 10 p.m. will be off the board due to Jay Leno's talk show, the network has considerably fewer slots than usual to fill.

Confidence has been pretty high that Chuck would return. Once Fox found a way to make the much lesser-rated Dollhouse work for fall late last week, Chuck returning to NBC seemed almost certain. It also probably hasn't hurt that star Zachary Levi has been a team player for NBC, appearing in the network's PSA campaigns, marketing promotions and events.

Here's Chuck's 18-49 ratings for the season, with the final number having gone up a tenth in the nationals since this chart was created. As you can see, for all the woes about the show's ratings, it actually performed fairly steady, dropping only slightly in midseason.

I do hope that Chuck's Neo-like powers are not the norm for the next season. The problem is that he becomes a one-man army who does not need any help, if he get the buff.

The other problem is that it is so obvious that Chuck is using a body double that it is distracting.

That said, I really do not want to go back to a situation where Chuck is just uselessly screaming whenever the action picks up.
