V

The greatest TV in history is being made right now. The worst TV in history is being made right now.

yes, this show is starting to bear an amazing resemblance to heroes.

exhibit #1: we hear all about how, at the V healing centers, they can scan people at the "cellular" level and can tell if someone has had a broken bone when they were 13 or chicken pox when they were 7, or will have a brain aneurysm in 6 months, etc... so with all that technology, they can't tell that the one chick is pregnant with an alien baby? i'm reserving judgment completely, because maybe they COULD tell and are just keeping it secret until they track down her alien baby-daddy. but if not, then that's some serious heroes-style bad writing logic right there.

From my girlfriends own site:

lauravandervoort.org wrote:ABC has confirmed that V will return on March 30, 2010. It will air on 10 PM, after Lost has aired.

Also, what I find rather amazing is that the viewers only decreased about 60,000 from episode 3 to 4, staying at a viewer count of approx. 9,2 million viewers. Can’t wait to see Laura in the next episode!

V is no doubt, one of my favorite tv-shows. Totally love the romance between Tyler and Lisa. If she’s not just playing him, of course? I’m very curious to whether she developes real feelings for him or if she’s taking the “dark path.”

I'm stoked.

Edit: Of course, when I say girlfriend, I mean 'girlfriend'. She doesn't like to be called that and really doesn't like to admit she knows me....at all. Ever. The restraining order says otherwise mind.

There was a weird recap thing on TV last night... I'd only seen the first episode but from watching the two-minute version of the recap thing (a preview of the recap, how delightfully bizarre) I am pretty much up to speed. Just goes to show how thin the ideas in show are so far, they don't seem to stretch far beyond the original concept. Plus the narration on the recap thing was weirdly sarcastic, pretty much making fun of the show. I wonder if someone will get fired for that shit.

Some highlights of the narration (paraphrased from memory):

"Jack Landry, a priest that looks like Brett Favre."

"The Vees are spying on us from coat-cams, how creepy!"

Yeah, what the fuck WAS that? I have never seen a minute of V but I saw that recap during LOST last night and couldn't stop laughing. That was baffling.

I'll say weird. Either they think we are all a bunch of tards and don't remember what happened and/or they are catering to the new audience. Either way, I found it went on far too long.

I'm pretty sure that was intended to draw in a new audience, especially since the ratings have been pretty weak thus far. Too bad they spent that time making fun of the show instead of trying to emphasize its deeper meanings! I'm sure people will flock to it now!

Regardless of good/bad the show is, the marketing has been A-T-R-O-C-I-O-U-S. Ok, the first Muse TV spot was kinda cool, but beyond that they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Worse, it was stolen from BSG's Catch the Frak Up recap....same attitude, same attempts at humor, hell it even sounded like the same actress.
Pretty lame, to rip another show's promo format. The Catch the Frak Up thing was funny as hell, however.

damn, now i wished i watched it. it sounds more entertaining than the show itself.

since they only aired 4 episodes so far, it's not too hard to sum it all up in an hour. doesn't mean the show's ideas are thin (although, in fact, they ARE thin). lost does it every year, and if you can sum up THAT show in an hour, you can certainly do it for a glorified miniseries.

Bax, it wasn't an hour. It was like 45 second commercials. It was weird.

Here it is

Compare that with what Vicar posted from BSG. It is identical.

i thought you guys were talking about the recap episode that aired last night after lost. that was a full hour (or 54 minutes, if you take away the extra 6 minutes of lost).

I can't speak for the RECAP episode, but the ads that aired DURING LOST were sarcastic as fuck. An entirely unfunny (and unoriginal, apparently).

Why do other "visitors" refer to themselves as "V"'s?

I want to like the show not only because I have fond memories of the original miniseries, but there's some hot trim on the show and I keep hoping it'll be very cold on that mothership...

having not seen the newest episode yet, i have to say the answer is probably a big studly "YES"

maybe the reason for the long hiatus was in hopes that the audience would forget how dumb this show is.

Was any retooling involved during the hiatus? Should I try to stick it out a while longer? Or am I headed for some Heroes level disappointment?

Have been watching this steaming Cup Of Fail from the beginning...
There is absolutely no sense of danger and paranoia in thus show - something the original mini-series and even the weekly series managed to get right.
All of these ships show up and the people of Earth are like "Oh, okay. Whatever."??????????

I'm still morbidly curious enough to keep watching, though.

Looks like the Visitors have over stayed their welcome.
Maybe they should have brought some folks from BSG over to show them how to "reinvent" an old property,
cause, clearly, the people fronting V weren't paying attention.

Just caught up to the end of this show's first season.
Way to go, assfaces! It took the ENTIRE SEASON to get a truly interesting episode, the season finale.
Horrible, horrible design and pacing with this whole season.
Everyone involved with the show is hopefully kissing every ABC executive's ass for giving them a second season.

This season started off on the short bus, but they worked some stuff out and now they're awaiting a transfer to the normal bus. It has potential and seems to (finally) be moving in the right direction. I'll watch it next season and hope it finally has gotten its act together. Maybe it'll be the opposite of Heroes and actually improve over the course of its run.

Clairvoyant much?

Marc Singer Joins Jane Badler For ABC's Second Season Of V!!

Bring back Michael Ironside and at least the cast will be interesting!

i think they should change the story and make it about how the visitors are actually the original cast members, and they are slowly, one-by-one, replacing the existing cast members, like pod people. someone let me know when they bring back robert englund and that hot blond doctor chick, then i might start watching again.
