V

Main Site has an article talking about V being re-done.
It seems that this sort of talk comes up every couple of years or so.

I say BRING IT!!!
The original miniseries & The Final Battle are fond memories and the DVDs actually held up fairly well. Not great, but okay. The series was fun too, but I haven't revistited that since it originally aired.

I'd love to see this redone. Sci-Fi is going to need something once BSG leaves the airwaves... HBO needs some more substance.... The networks.. Ahhh screw the networks!!!

Bring me more V!!!!!

Hamsters... gerbils... mice... rats.... yumm!!!

I don't even remember who lived or died in the series, but I'd like to see Marc Singer, Michael Ironside, and Robert Englund in it.

I think the story of aliens invading Earth under the pretense of making things better IS extremely relevant during this Iraq debacle. Battlestar Galactica has had some nods to it, but I think a new V could really hit the nail on the head.... not that we need to be subjected to more parallels between real life and entertainment. But the subject matter is quite similar.

I met Marc Singer once. You may not know this, but he'll fight you if you think he's kidding when he's acting. Passionate fellow.

Why not? Americans haven't been beaten over the head enough about invading Iraq, let's characterize them as rodent-eating lizard-faced aliens. Sounds good to me!

</sarcasm>

V would be nice to have redone, I'm down for it :)

I wonder if this might be related to Kenneth Johnson's sequel novel "V: The Second Generation" which press releases said was "soon to be a new miniseries!". I just finished it. It's really not half bad, although often logically inconsistent and yeah--it IS an allegory for Iraq. It's coming out in October, but I'll be reviewing it probably in next couple of weeks. I'll link back here if anyone cares.

Yeah, I don't know how hardcore fans are going to react to it since it basically ignores V: The Final Battle and V: The Series. And it does turn a lot of elements of the series on its head. For instance you find out that the occupation of earth was just a small part of an even grander plan by the Visitors (hint: you remember the 'enemy' that the resistance tried to contact at the end?)...

vaguely - so it was part of of a larger interplanetary war? I'm intrigued, but a little taken aback that the earlier iteration is being disregarded somewhat by the sound of it.

Was gonna mention this chick. Is she wearing black rubber there?! Her names Dianne too!!! HAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

The only thing I can't forgive her for is for swallowing my Guinea Pig when I was a kid. That disturbs me to this day.

Hope the new one wears something at least resembling this....

New V could really be magnificent. The original TV series had loads of potential and even despite it's flaws it's still a enjoyable ride that we could not resist watching and actually did relish.

Now with the trend to mega budget material that people believe will rocket into the stratosphere, this series COULD be totally explosive. Just as long as they don't mistake 'seriousness' in characterisation for 'dullness' which seems to be a mistake being made often. Or any other screw ups. I just want them to have simple fun and entertainment with this amongst anything else.

From IMDB's Trivia about Marc Singer:

-Brother of actress Lori Singer and Gregory Singer.

-Cousin of director Bryan Singer.

-Has a black belt in kung fu.

The last two were shocks!
All Hail Marc Singer!! (no laughing here!)

Sorry Fievel, Marc Singer is still gonna fight you. Why? Because you were shocked that he has a black belt in Kung Fu.

Ask yourself, how could anyone so serious about his acting NOT have a black belt in Kung Fu? Not possible. Therefore, you did not think Marc Singer was serious about his acting. And now he will fight you. And likely kick your ass.

Too bad, mate, but let's face it, you CLEARLY have this coming.

Marc Singer in Beastmaster was a bit of a girl if I remember. Running around with just that loincloth all the time with 2 ferrets stashed somewhere where we can't see them - even though he has nothing to hide them in his skirt.

I think Singer is a girl.

Hmmm... what DID the Beastmaster use those ferrets for?

I wonder if Willie, the vegetarian alien in V, was a full-blown vegan or if he cheated.

Wow, I loved V until the series, at which point I got irritated with that stupid hybrid mutant blond girl. My 12 year old brain probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been a hybrid mutant dark headed and adventurous lad, but whatever.

Bring it.

But if'n they do it, let it be a reboot, and keep all the hot Nazi imagery. Wilhelm = hotness.

You know what was cool on V?

The guns.
From their look to the sounds they made, they were just freaking SWEET. They totally blew away the Star Wars guns.

I had one of those as a toy when I was young. That gun kicked ass.
Or rather I got my ass kicked for having a funny looking "laser" weapon and not a cool looking M16 or MP5...

Ah, those were the days.

Is Singer so serious about his acting that he cops to guesting on "The Young and The Restless"? Or will he fight me just because I saw him on there? I haven't read the article but I'm up for more "V". As long as its better than "Flash Gordon".

Ugh! It's not the loincloth, it's how you wear it...plus you have to have a Scottish accent. And be Gerard Butler.

I have to say, I would have never thought Marc Singer had a body like that.

But to try and continue getting this back on track...I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of V. It provided some scarring moments in my childhood--Diana eating the parakeet!! And the lizard baby!

New V Series?!?!?!

Hey All - long time listener, first time caller. I know this is a stretch, but I think the series V might be coming back! I was watching the Jace Hall Show on Crackle.com and in the opening segment there is a MASSIVE V POSTER in the background!!! The poster says "Where were you?" and then "2008". You can see it in the beginning of the show here:

http://www.crackle.com/c/Jace_Hall/Jace ... 91%26fx%3d

It also has the HDFilms logo in on the poster (Jace Hall's company where they film). I looked it up to see I could find anything about this online and I came up empty handed. There's nothing on HDFilms' site but I did notice their address is the same as Warner Bros. -- who own the rights to V. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks :D !

According to Kenneth Johnson's website:

Update 4/11/08

Work continues to get V before the cameras as a theatrical motion picture.
Hopefully there will be an announcement shortly.

IMDB doesn't have anything of worth as far as updates go, either.... not that they're the leaders of quality updates...
Maybe that "V" was just meant to be a Roman numeral 5?
