Forgettable episode is forgettable... BUT!

Next week's show was written by Neil Gaiman so I expect great things.

Interestingly, this episode was originally going to be in the second half of the season...so I don't know if it would have played out differently. It felt a little bit on the cheap side to me, even for Doctor Who.

It also needed more Lily Cole.

Space Pirates is already a show.

Not "Normal Again"?

My cable died about 45 minutes in and didn't come back all night, so I missed the replays as well. Anyone care to spoiler-text the last 15 minutes? I lost the signal right after the Doctor and the pirate captain appeared in the other ship. Thanks.

The pirate ship and the alien ship occupy the same space by in parallel dimensions (or something like that) and there's some kind of portal doohickey linking the two ships up.

The "Psiren" is actually the alien ship's medical hologram program. It's adjusted itself to suit human form and has been transporting the sailors into a sickbay to heal them...except it doesn't really know how to fully, so they're left on life support. Rory nearly drowns or something...the Doctor does some stuff...I guess he turns off the medical program...the Captain and his crew basically decide to pilot the alien ship away....they take all of this in really well for a 17th century pirate ship crew....Amy is still suffering from Schrodinger's Baby.

...I'm tempted not to even bother spoiler tagging that.

Episode left me underwhelmed, and very disappointed after the two part opener
that left 1,000 questions hanging and basically let them dangle for an entire episode.
Ah well, lets see what Mr. Gaiman comes up with.

I had a real problem with this ep: with all the lovy-doviness between the Doctor and his TARDIS, no one seemed interested in the fact that a young woman had to die to make that quasi-romantic encounter possible.. Weird, that.

Judging by Auntie and Uncle, she likely willingly accepted body parts from dead Time Lords. I don't think the Doctor cared much for any of the 'people' on that planet.

A fine episode. Had a decided Douglas Adams tinge to it, both dramatically and comedically.

I think it's become a little routine that the Doctor lands himself with an enemy which he things can't be defeated, we see him in peril and boom! he switches it all around.

Still, it was enjoyable.

My BBC America feed said the program is taking the coming weekend off. Maybe the real BBC is taking a different schedule from here on out.

Prediction: The Doctor-ganger lives, goes off on his own, and becomes the Doctor who was shot in "The Impossible Astronaut." He didn't regenerate because he's not a real Time Lord. Either that, or he is destroyed while valiantly rescuing the TARDIS from the acid.

All this science-fiction stuff is confusing and either needlessly complex or stunningly predictable.

It almost guarantees The Silent created a fake Amy for The Doctor to take.

I assumed that too. She must've been replaced in the White House bathroom.

Also, nobody seems to be picking on the line"At least you're not invited to this one" - the Doctor knows about his upcoming death, but isn't letting on.

Don't read if you haven't seen the episode, the following is mainly about the ending

Apart from that last bit on the Tardis it was merely an okay two episodes. Maybe The Flesh have larger implications yet to come though, I certainly didn't see Pond being a ganger for the whole series coming. when in the hell did that happen? maybe on her honeymoon? What was that about the Doctor blocking the signal to the flesh/Pond?, didn't quite get or understand that bit at all.

Comments about the prequel and Trailer

The prequel for next week was all right I suppose, I definitely got a Star Wars kinda vibe which was then totally reconfirmed when I watched the trailer for next week.

Space battles?

Hooded Jedi types with red lightning lightsaber type things?

The BBC site seems to suggest it might be a bit of clusterfuck of villains next week. I guess it might be related to last year's finale, with everyone being influenced into ganging up on the Doctor.
