Top Gear

Postby banthafodderUK on Wed Sep 20, 2006 6:15 pm

The Top Gear presenter, Richard Hammond has been critically injured in a 'rocket car' test drive!! - Apparently it reached almost 290 mph then flipped on it's side!!!

I don't know if the non-UK zoners get to see Top Gear, but it is funny and cool.

I knowmost of my friends (and even their g/f's) watch the show.

Prayers out to Richard Hammond. Let's hope he pulls through. He is a very funny, and down to earth chap.

Although Clarkson takes the piss out of him loads, he really loves him (not in a pillow biter way).

Since they revamped the show, he has made a cool contribution.

And he does appear in quite a few UK TV shows (thats why Clarkson takes the piss).

:)

Fingers crossed Richard mate.

That's too bad. Discovery aired an edited version briefly in the States, which was enjoyable.

They were considering an Americanised version which I'm sure would have been horrible, since a lot of the charm came from the original presenters.

Right now, the only way to view them is to download them.

To be totally honest, I'm amazed that this hasn't happened before on Top Gear - those dudes love their speed

Some say that he thought Star Wars was a documentary, and that he recently pulled out of "I'm A Celebrity" because he is scared of trees... All we know is...he's called the Kirk.

Top Gear is a show that, when I watch it, I love.

However, I never actually seem to catch it. Whenever I see a repeat I find myself really entertained by most of it (apart from some of Clarkson's more right wing rambling ;)), but still I always forget to tell TIVO to record it :?

Many years ago when I was at the BBC my desk was about 100 metres away from their production office, they weren't about much but when I did see them (never talked to them) it was clear that their on screen friendship and banter is 100% genuine. I think Top Gear is a massively entertaining show, can't wait for Sunday night when it returns.

I've seen bits and pieces of it. A friend of mine downloads it semi-regularly. The one whole episode I saw was from last December where they were comparing sporty German cars. They also had an interview with David Tennant promoting the Dr. Who Christmas special which was pretty entertaining in itself. I am about the least car-inclined person I know but this show is produced and put together rather spectacularly and there is never a dull moment. I'm surprised this hasn't been ripped off by an American show yet. If not the whole format just the way they shoot the road tests.

It's on the way:
NBC announced Monday morning what listeners to Adam Carolla's radio show have known for a while: The comedian will host the broadcaster's adaptation of the BBC's "Top Gear."

Carolla will join drift racer Tanner Foust and TV construction guru Eric Stromer as the show's presenters. "Gear" targets auto enthusiasts and mixes racing, stunts, challenges and celebrity guests.

NBC announced the show as a pilot in the winter, but the project has not yet been added to the network's year-round schedule, which was unveiled in May.

Amy Winehouse was sitting in the BBC canteen when she saw Jeremy Clarkson approaching her table.

She asked "Who the fark are you?". Clarkson replied "I'm a TV presenter".

Winehouse says "What the fark do you do?". Clarkson replies "Top Gear".

Winehouse exclaims "....Great! I'll have half a Kilo".

Unlike Clarkson on a Motorway, I saw that one coming a mile away.

Still funny though.

Sunday's episode was pretty good, DAVE are gonna have to edit the shit out of it if they do repeat it in a few weeks.

Apparently the test track is gonna be in Gran Turismo 5, so you'll be able to try & beat The Stig's lap times from past shows (possibly the celebs times too, if the game has an old Suzuki Liana in it).

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They'll pay 'em. The show would suck without the three of them.

Any other Petrol Heads in the Zone then? You think it's worth starting a "What have you been Driving" or some such thread?

Good season opener last night. Reliant Robin fail.

Anyone else notice the Inception trailer music during the Bentley SS test?

As silly as the Reliant Robin thing was, it did make me laugh.

And yeah, they use movie soundtrack music all the time. There was extensive Dark Knight OST usage last night.
